Furry Dating Site Shuts Down Due to FOSTA

The Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act was passed on March 23rd by Congress, and 2 days later furry dating website Pounced.org voluntarily shut down according to a report from Motherbaord. Instead of personal ads for furries, visiting the site now will only provide an explanation of why the site is down.

I know how tough this must be on many members of the [H] community. Fortunately, lawyer and fellow furry "Boozy Barrister" wrote a long, albeit NSFW explanation of the legal side of this shutdown. Or maybe just stop offering hookers in manatee costumes on your website.

“FOSTA attempts to make Internet sites such as pounced.org liable for the way users use the site in an effort to address sex trafficking and prostitution. FOSTA increases our liability significantly and chips away at one of the primary reasons we as a small organization can provide services to the community - the protection that had previously been offered to us by Section 230 of the Communications Decency act”
 
The last attempt at legislating mandatory values in 2007 didn't work. We'll see if it works this time.

Has anyone else ever noticed that the ones that howl about the evils of sex are the ones that get caught with their junk in all the wrong places?

Like practically every politician who writes these stupid laws? I think we all know where this bullshit came from.
 
i hope fosta gets challenged by the supreme court and overturned quick. It's too broad.

I hope people can move this shit overseas where US law can't touch them. Sex trafficking is a smaller issue than they make it out to be. Certainly a lot smaller than gun shootings and deaths.
 
Having witnessed (and enjoyed) a lot of the depravity posted in the [H]ardForms, how long before it's shut down? Surely with this crowd any prosecutor could prove "foreseeable" legally-ambiguous posts. :D

Not only Furries affected. Craigslist personals are now gone. I wonder how long BackPage will hold out. "Massage" sections on both (and probably others) will be next. All dating sites should be concerned. Twitter is loaded with working girls these days. This just effectively drives the trade back underground. These "evil" sites provide law enforcement easy access to contact information and location and the Federal Gov. is taking away this useful tool of local law enforcement. Vice cops will have to actually get off their ass and build a case to bust whores. Women are not going to stop selling pussy just because they can't advertise on the Internet.

I've read (not sure on the accuracy) that FOSTA was backed by religious and "family first" like groups (same ones that push abstinence and church based teachings). The sex trafficking angle was put in to sell it.

It's one of the BS tactics politicians pull. They could put together a reprehensible bill and give it a fuzzy "for the children" name. Like "Prevention of Underage Prostitution" .. it's career suicide to vote against it because Joe Blow Public will only see the title when election season comes around. Their opponents will run attack ads pointing out that they're for underage prostitution.
 
I just Love how both sides (SJW) Left and (Moral Busybody) Right use BS tactics like conflating "Human Trafficking" with Prostitution in order to garner public support for legislating what two consenting adults chose to do in the privacy of their own home (or kennel/stable in this case?) really lends a lot of credence to the horseshoe theory.

There's groups for everyone, Christian Mingle, Black People Meet, Farmers Only and these are just the ones you see on TV. Honesty if there's a fetish for it, it most likely has a way for people to connect via conventions or dating sites.
 
Here we go again, putting fig leaves on the statues and let's ban alcohol while we're at it. There must be better ways to fight sex trafficking...like more undercover cops? But actually when I think about it, I'm for banning all porn on the internet, I'm sure my download speeds will go up if that happens ;).

There are hybrids of these sites, like a meld of FarmersOnly and Furries for goat fuckers and the like.

Evangelicals that want to not only stop sex outside of marriage, but control the sex act itself. This is just the first step to push sex back out on the streets, where corporate police and ICEgov can go and arrest anyone for doing anything that looks like "deviant sexual acts".

It's not as small as you think it is, but outlawing consenting adults isn't the way to go about it.

SJW's don't conflate human trafficking with any for of sex work: in fact, SJW's work very hard to ensure sex worker rights and protections, and would rather see prostitution legalized so it can be regulated and protected (controlling disease and human trafficking).

Right Wing Nut Jobs are the ones conflating "sex trafficking" with "prostitution" and other sex work. They're the ones who want to make sure you don't DHITB and outside the missionary position while having sex for procreation only. They're the ones who want to reserve "fun sex" for themselves.

ICEgov is too busy deporting DACA recipients and legal immigrants to be bothered with sex trafficking.

However, it would surprise me to find that at least half of ICEgov are in the pockets of drug and sex traffickers.

You know, there is a very easy solution to a lot of this: LEGALIZE PROSTITUTION.

It would not solve sex trafficking, but it would vastly reduce it as it would provide a legal recourse for people that are mistreated. Of course our society would have to get over its fucking retarded fear of human sexuality first.

Ive said it before and I will say it again. They should just legalize it like Nevada did (outside of vegas), grant a license to sell sex (comes with a guarantee of cleanliness etc) and tax the shit out of it. Course you will still have people trying to avoid paying the tax and those that refuse to get a license...but it would be a lot safer overall.

Hey that stock picture they used is crazy Bronies not furries and trust me I would know the difference. Honestly there are far worse things to worry about in this world then the weird sexual habits of some people. Then we have to define what is weird and that becomes difficult cause someone will rarely tell you the truth of about what they really are into.
