I recently upgraded the laptops for my group at work. We had been provided with 13" MBPs (non-retina) and Thunderbolt displays. (I'm not going to get into how bad of a decision this was for our role, but it was bad. We have half a dozen Windows only tools we have to run daily. Running a constant VM on a dual core machine and playing with pass-through multiple times a day just to do my job was no fun, so I ended up running BootCamp full time.)

The money is in the budget to upgrade our screens, but I wanted to avoid it if I could. I picked up a couple of the $50 Apple Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapters on the off chance that it would work, and it does.

It works perfectly.

It works better than my old MBP running BootCamp. It's actually Hot Pluggable so I don't have to reboot every time I get back to my office.

Nice.
