So the current status of the thread is the original developer disappeared. The most recent update on the tablet brought it to 5.1.1. There's a new guy in the thread claiming he's trying to get his hands on one and wants to bring 6.0 to the build. That's where it stands right now. It's a slow process but at least post 5.0 Android runs pretty damn well on this tablet.
