FS: NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 (R7000) with Xwrt (Asuswrt-Merlin) Firmware Router

I currently use a R7000 and luv it, but just out of curiosity, how did you get Asus firmware onto a Netgear router ?

Was it possible because some routers share the same or similar components, and why did you feel the need to do this ?
