No, I haven't tried overclocking and I won't either since I don't have motherboard capable of doing so.

Let me re-phrase as apparently I didn't write my question clearly enough.

In rackmount servers utilizing the same line of Xeon "Harpertown" CPUs, there is no fan attached to each CPU, just an "Active" heatsink that cools the CPU in conjunction with the fans built into the rackmount chassis.

I'm asking you if the "Active" heatsink included with your CPU is the type that would be used in conjunction with the builtin fans common to rackmount chassis.
