adding a component->vga transcoder that I used to play my video game consoles on my desktop LCD screen. Worked great through my gamecube, Wii, and PS3 era. Finally, I purchased a TV 
No need for this. Excellent product though if you're looking to do the same thing and don't have component inputs on your LCD. I do still have the original box for it, and I think the manual also (will double check if you're interested).
It can even be used to extend a VGA connection, if you connect your input device to the input, and then another VGA cable from the output to your screen.
