I don’t think the prices are crazy but just a lot of people are finally moving on from Haswell and there’s not a huge market for someone who’s going to drop $300-400 into a setup like that when that chunk of cash could put you a decent ways into new components which at this point are 4 generations newer.

I still run a 4790K myself as my main rig and I’m starting to sound like all those guys clutching their 2600K “it’s still good enough dammit!” lol

I’d buy it myself just because I’m a sucker for nice hardware and I run BOINC on all my gear, but I can get dual-socket Xeon setups for the same ~$400 you are asking.
