FYI BUMP.
I got a bunch m.2 sata drives. I ended up adding a case to them to make them 2.5, like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/185209236420?hash=item2b1f54abc4:g:NE0AAOSwaPZeoO49

For fun I ran a 4 or 5 disk RAID out of them. Still slower than 4x4 NVME. but we don't all have 4x4 NVME drives.
