Yes. I own a lower end model, the 770-C45, and it supports 1600 just fine on a 1:4 divider. if you OC then 1800 or 2000 work too.

MUST RESIST GOD DAMN YOU FRYS I HAD MY HEART SET ON MY NEW BUILD AND YOU DO THIS

lol. I know. i hate when they do these deals. I mean really for 130ish you get quad and nice crossfire board.

Don't know much about quad phenoms, would this be an upgrade to a q6600?

damn u fry's.... don't know if I should bite on this deal as a platform upgrade from my Q9550

Bought it. Upgrading from Core 2 duo. Maybe now I can run Bad Company 2 without the huge fps drops. lol

Thanks OP

how does fry's make money if they do these kinds of deals everyweek?

I'm glad they don't use as many crappy ECS boards in their combos anymore. Sometimes I wish I needed to upgrade.

Snack foods.

lol i do not buy any snacks waiting in the 1 mile long aisle of food.

I'm not saying everyone does. I only grab a bag of chips once in a while myself. If it didn't work though, then they would've stopped doing it a long time ago.

It would be an upgrade, but a marginal upgrade. While I don't like this review site they compared the 940 directly to the q6600
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/phenom-ii-940,2114.html

This is also a very good cpu comparison tool (I chose to compare the q6600 to the amd 940 which is the same chip but only ddr2)
http://anandtech.com/bench/Product/80?vs=53

As you can see in the anandtech comparison that the 940 beats the q6600 in every test with the exception of 1. In Farcry 2 medium 1680x1050 the phenom II scored 48.2 frames per second vs the q6600 48.7 fps. A difference that won't be seen by the individual.

So it wouldn't be worth it then to move this? I have my q6600 running at 3ghz, looking the links it might not be an upgrade with the OC.

Whoa whoa whoa, the Fry's description says "Dual DDR3 1200".
But MSI's website says it has 4 DDR3 slots.... I hope thats a typo on Fry's.
Fry's should have a bigger picture so you can actually see it.

They probabaly meant dual channel.

I am running q6600 at 3.6ghz. Why would anyone want to upgrade to this from a q6600 0r from a q9550? Q9550 would easily do 3.8ghz.

I bought this combo yesterday with 2x2GB corsair ddr3-1600. It does has four ddr3 slots and it does support ddr3-1600 even though the website/box says ddr3-1200. I went into bios and simply changed the ram settings from ddr3-1200 to ddr3-1600. I always found it funny how the items in fry's ad are always mistakenly described. That guy needs to be fired, lol.

Does anyone have any idea if this board is compatible with VMWare ESX or ESXi 4?

Yes the ad writters often make mistakes. Though in this case I can see how he made a mistake. Max memory is 8gb according to msi, yet there are 4 slots.

And while the motherboard is rated up to 1200mhz for memory that doesn't mean you can run it faster than what the board is rated for.

Can be either. Frys carries both steppings. They have different items numbers, and bundles usually allow both steppings.

Picked one up today in Woodland Hills, CA. Looks like they had plenty more. Helping a co-worker replace an aging Dell XPS 600 with a Pentium D 930 :p

Damn you Fry's. I bought one last night even though I had no need to upgrade, I got a second computer now though. I also got the Kingston HyperX 4GB kit for $109. Not a bad deal for $250.

I bought this deal and I am curious if it's hit or miss using DDR3-1600 or a safe bet that the mobo will run it.

i was building a computer for my friend with this combo and he asked if there was a firewireport i said no:-(
