Frustrating issues with wifi connection :(

So about a month ago I began noticing my laptop was experiencing major wifi connectivity issues. I wasn't just losing connection from my network, but rather a completely loss of wifi signal as the entire list of available networks would dissappear and reappear. Sometimes it would reconnect quickly, and other times the wireless adapter remained disconnected and I had to troubleshoot it to reconnect the wireless card At first I began troubleshooting it as an issue with the laptop. Sent it to lenovo and they sent it back claiming it was a corrupt driver. Same issue popped up again and I finally resigned myself to the fact it must be a faulty network card, so lenovo is sending me a new wireless adapter. In the meantime I went ahead and bought a usb wireless adapter and disabled the internal adapter on the laptop. Unfortunately same issue popped up which has me completely stumped. Windows has been reinstalled fresh numerous times, the router is brand new (problem was there with the old router too), modem is working fine, and time Warner just came and verified everything is performing fine. With a ethernet connection I have no issue, but I did notice the issue popping up on my phone the last couple days. Still havnt seen it on other devices in the house. I apologize for rambling but I am completely baffled by this issue I hope one of you wizards has the answer

Start looking for things that happen when wifi goes out. Are you using a microwave? Are you in a house or apartment?

What model router, where is the router, where is the laptop, how many walls/floors between. What kind of building/how many units around you? What kind of internal network card is it?

I've ran into it in the past with older Netgear Wireless APs that they were extremely finicky with certain Network adapters. In my case, my really old WG302 hated Intel chipped WIFI adapters. If your other laptop is a lenovo is or the network adapter is from the same manufacturer as the one inside your lenovo, ( i.e. broadcom, intel...) the chips may not play well together.

I am in a condominium complex with a lot of units, but have never ran into this issue since we installed wifi for the first time years back. The new router is a Trendnet TEW-828DRU and it sits behind my monitor where all my routers have been over the last few years. I am in my room which is where the router is and I am no more than 10-15 feet from it when using the laptop. The internal card on my lenovo is an intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265.

Are you running DDWRT on that? Try stock firmware, I found DDWRT support on newer devices really lacking in performance and stability. I get you had the problem with your previous router too, could be different problems acting the same.

Also is there any wireless network management apps on the laptop? Kill those...

I would use your laptop or mobile device to analyze the WIFI signals in the rooms you are in. I bet you are running into interference with overlapping signals or other devices using same frequency's.

On 2.4GHz or 5GHz? I had to move to 5GHz in my neighborhood (not even a condo). 2.4GHz was just way too crowded.

I would be curious as to whether you live in an apartment.

Check your wireless router for the channel it is broadcasting on. Some allow you to change this. Same as remotes for let's say a bell receiver. You could be getting interference from someone new that moved in close to you running heavily on the same channel or frequency.

Download a free trial of software called InSSider by metageek. I use it and Chanalyzer for work to make sure my WIFI is always performing tip top. This will at least give you a picture of how many other people are using WIFI on the same or close channel to yours. It will also show you signal strength and you can guage the interference level off that. One other thing you might check on your WIFI router is if 20/40 channel width is enabled. Even though my devices support 40, I found that I got horrible performance when I had it on. Turned it back to 20 and everything was sunshine and happy days again.

Are there any other wireless clients connecting to the AP? If so are those clients having problems? 1st thing I would do is update the wireless drivers and if the wireless nic is an Intel, definitely install the full driver suite including the ProSET wireless tools.

Does your Wifi card use an actual mini PCI or mini PCIe slot or is the slot really just a USB port?

If it is really just a USB port, then that could explain why you are also having issues with a USB adapter.

Do other USB devices work fine?

Do you have the latest BIOS for your laptop?

It kind of sounds like interference, but really strange if it is happening in multiple places.

I believe it is a pci or pci express card (Laptop is a 2015 Lenovo Carbon X1)

So basically what it seems like is that the laptop keeps resetting the network adapter for itself, whether it is the internal card or the usb adapter. I have updated the bios to the newest version, and I disable whichever adapter I am not using at the time. I am completely stumped as even resetting windows on the PC to scratch does not resolve the problem.

Probably the same issue I ran into with connected standby. I assume your internal WIFI is Intel AC 7265? Try uninstalling current WIFI drivers, install previous 17.0.6 driver only (DE filename) linked below and disable "wake on pattern match". Also disable Windows automatic driver update. That's the only work around for my issue that sounds identical to yours.
