I really like the 7 v 1 concept of Friday the 13th: The Game. The Kickstarter is off to a great start so, with any luck, the developers will end up with enough money to make a really good game.
Probably most of that goes into just being allowed to use the name "Friday The 13th"So it's basically a half-life mod that they need $700,000 to produce

At least they are not selling digital axes and weapons for real money ahead of an actual game.
Why not partner with a publisher?
Great question. We love working with publishers, most of them are great companies to work alongside. Fans of the Friday the 13th film series know that when it comes to Jason Voorhees, violence, gore and nudity arent just concepts to consider theyre necessities. Collectively, we wanted to make certain that this game delivers the same kind of fun, brutal scares and creative kills that the franchise is known for and didnt want to risk having to tell our story with a T for Teen rating. We dont want that. You dont want that.
Were not interested in compromising what made the film franchise so popular. Were interested in building precisely what we, as fans, want. The ultimate Friday the 13th experience. Blood, guts, gore, brutal kills, and more. You want an experience true to the films, and so do we. Its about creative control and delivering the best game we can. We want to share that control, with you, not a publisher.
Um.... WB owns the rights to Friday the 13th, Jason is in Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat is nowhere near a T rated game. I don't think WB has trouble with M rated games. I don't think they have problems with blood, guts and other forms of mutilation. Go watch every fatality from MK X.

IIRC Crystal Lake entertainment owns the trademark/rights, WB had the "movie" rights (To make a movie), gave them to Paramount a few years back for Interstellar.
Hence why Crystal lake entertainment can make the upcoming tv show, give this game the license to use Jason/Friday the 13th, etc.
Yup, and I wouldn't say it "sucked" sucked, but it was quite a difficult game and the learning curve was sky high. Not exactly the type of game that is aimed at the audience Nintendo was looking at.Anyone remember the Friday the 13th game on NES? Probably not, it sucked.
Ugh. I'm a lifelong fan of Friday the 13th, but I also have a strong stance against Kickstarter. I doubt that I will back it, but the temptation is there...
I'm in at the $10,000 level. Seems likely to produce a better result than the more expensive Star Citizen pledges.
Did you really pledge $10,000? That's hardcore.
Fuck no. I did pledge for one of the physical packages though.
