Any idea whats going on? I frequently get dropped from my Wireless. I also tried LAN, but that drops as well. Only for this computer too.

How about the rest of the network?

Are there machines out there with static IPs that fall within the DHCP range?

Have you tried setting a manual IP on this PC and seeing if it fixes the problem?

Have you disabled all LAN/WLAN power saving features?

Have you reset the TCP/IP stack in windows? (netsh int ip reset)

Have you tried this machine on another LAN? (if available)

Have you tried another user account on this pc?

Have you tried safemode with networking?

They work fine.

Not sure what this means.

Yes. No cigar.

Where do you do this? /networking newbie.

'reset' perimeter invalid.

Yes, the LAN works fine.

Have you tried another user account on this pc?
Just now tried. Haven't had a disconnect in 20 minutes, whereas I was getting them at around 5 minute or less intervals.

Have you tried safemode with networking?
Not yet.

Ok, so a new user account gets either no disconnects or less frequent ones? ( I couldn't tell from your verbage.)

If that's the case than some program/service that is running on that user account is causing your problems.

Sorry about the wording, at the time of that writing, it was 20 minutes in with no disconnects so far. I am now about 4 hours or so in, and still no disconnects.

Think I'll just use this account. I can access everything on my old account, and I don't have that much to access anyways; I reformatted just days ago.

One annoyance I have though: when I first log in to this account, MSN connects immediately, then disconnects right after. I have to start the WZC (Windows Zero Configuation) utility EVERYTIME I log into the account, AND whenever I repair the connection. Is there a way to make it stay on from the get-go? It's on default settings (Automatic).

Thanks for the replies btw Eickst. :)

Try new wireless drivers? Maybe new firmware if it's available.

If not, since you just formatted it, I wouldn't hesitate to wipe it again.

Nothing fixes Windows like a good raping.

Run this to reset the TCP Winsock repair.....easier than the command prompt method..just double click..and reboot.

However I'd look at...
*Latest drivers for your NIC
*Latest firmware on the wireless router/AP
*Using XP? Make sure you have service pack 2
*Make sure your SSID is unique
*Try a different channel on the AP...from the default 6 to 1 or 11.

NIC drivers are all up to date.
Firmware has been up to date.
Yes, using SP2.
It is.
The problem is the other 3 computers on my network run it fine, it's just me, so there's really no reason to change the channel.

Edit: Forgot to mention I ran the program. Unfortunately I'm not at the house at the moment, and won't be for another 5 or so hours. I'll update you on what happens then.
