FREE Windows Vista RC1 now available!

I'm burning it using Nero, it shows as burned but only has a nero Image icon when I explore the disk show 2.5g used on the disk. Doesn't boot up using the disk though. Did I burn correctly, was I supposed to see folders and Vista icons when I explore the DVD?

you have to use the burn image (iso?) option form one of the menus.

Yeah, don't burn an image to the DVD...burn the image to the DVD...

Open the full "Nero Burning ROM", cancel the wizard and choose RECORDER -> BURN IMAGE within Nero. Browse to the original image location & burn it.

Have they fixed the problem with Daemon tools corrupting the install yet? I remember back with one of the older releases (5230?) that everytime I installed Daemon tools or Alcohol it corrupted the whole file system and the OS stopped running. I'm not installing this until I know this issue has been resolved. (Gotta have my pirated games! I mean...backed up...games...)

I highly doubt that's a glitch in the OS. ;)

Oh, I'm aware that its not a glitch. I want to know if enough people got pissed that they now allow virtual drive software.

Its a long shot, but if anyone has a beta key they don't want then shoot a pm my way. :) Would like to install this on my new HDD I'll be getting soon and see how it performs.

Also, I just read that each beta key can be used to activate upto 10 computers. Is this true?

Just a heads up for Internet Explorer 7 RC1 users

I was trying to dl from the supplied link using Internet Explorer 7 with the Akamai dl manager and I would get a lost internet connection error, on several different/separate dl attempts this morning. Each time I would lose the connection at a different point in the dl and I would have no connection to the internet. I was 30%, 50%, 75% complete at times before the loss of internet connection occurred.

IE7 has a "repair my connection" option when you lose internet connection and after running that I was online again and would have no problem online until the connection loss occurred again while using Akamai. Each time I lost internet the data dl so far with Akamai was corrupted and had to be erased according to Akamai. I uninstalled IE7 and restarted the dl with Akamai and IE6 and had no problems.

Throughout the dl process with IE7 and afterwards with IE6 I was getting 600+ kb/s dl speed. This is the first time I had a problem like this and I'm certain my hardware is good. If anyone else who dl Vista RC1 with Akamai and IE7 has had this problem I'd like to hear about it, if not then I guess this is a warning for IE7 users that there's a problem with Akamai when using IE7 IMO.

Hope this helps someone else who might be having problems.

Yay, a 64 bit version again!

Gotta sleep now, but I'll download it tomorrow.

DL is slow, only like 300KB/s between the two files (downloading 32/64, why not?). But Im heading to work for 8 hours so I really dont care. Will throw it on the e1405 on a second partition if it ever gets to/from repair.

hey... for those of you that use a beta key to install..... did you enter it when asked or did you install without a key and activate it later?

my friend gave me two cd keys that is supposedly beta keys (one server, one client) but it says it cannot validate the key when i put it in during install.

I had a beta key a while ago when I planned on installing this on my laptop, and then I deleted it because I became busy and thought I wouldn't have the time to mess with Vista. Well, now I have spare time again, but no beta key.

Is there a way to have the key re-emailed to you? Or would someone mind PMing a key since they can be used on up to 10 machines each?
