This kills me... they "ran" out of software? Did they get low on bits? Are they having supply chain issues with the company that provides product keys? And they ran out at exactly 2PM on the 11th? LMAO

Why couldn't they just tell the truth: "we limited the number of free pieces of software for this promotion and that limit was reached on December 11, 2007 at 2PM". Or maybe even more honestly: "we decided at 2PM on December 11, 2007 that too many people were signing up just for the free software, so we got rid of that part of the deal".

did you miss the post on how much money they lose with each key?

Will re-open thread up when we start getting the free software or updates from MS.

Thanks!

If any of you receive updates or the free software, PM me so we can re-open this thread. :D

Thanks!

Got an update from bigted. :)

Thank you for your interest in the Windows Feedback Program!

All customers who entered their name and email address on the first enrollment page on our website http://wfp.microsoft.com before the program closed at 2 p.m. PT on December 11, 2007 are eligible to receive the free product offer. We reviewed the timestamps in our system and would like to inform you that you are eligible.

As a reminder, when you registered for the program, we stated that you will receive your product only after we have confirmed that you have:

· Entered a valid e-mail and shipping address.

· Fully completed the survey.

· Downloaded and installed the software on Windows Vista or XP.

· Used our software for at least 3 months on a Windows Vista or XP computer that is periodically connected to the Internet.

If we detect your computer is not sending data, you will be notified.

When you are properly registered, you will see the following processes in Windows Task Manager: wfpuser.exe and wfpservice.exe. Please note that in Windows Vista you will need to click “Show processes from all users” to display that information.

If you don’t see them, you may want to check your firewall application. Please make sure it is set to allow wfpuserreg.exe and wfpservice.exe access to the Internet on outgoing TCP ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS). Both of these applications are located in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Feedback Panel".

If you still don’t see the processes, you may want to uninstall our tool and reinstall it following the steps found at the below links:

To remove the tool: http://wfp.microsoft.com/App_Client/wfpclean.exe

To re-install the tool: http://wfp.microsoft.com/App_Client/setup.exe

If you changed your mind and would like to be removed from the list of eligible customers, please contact us at [email protected] including the phrase “remove” in the subject line.

THANK YOU

The Windows Experience Team

I will keep updating this thread as the info comes in.

Thanks!

Strangely, I received the same message this morning.....picked out my reward and all is good in Gotham City. Microsoft is good about giving stuff away, but they take their sweet time doing so. Looks like the registration is going to stay closed for the foreseeable future.
