They probably will release it as open source --in 30 years.

People need to get over it. Move to 10, or Linux if you don't like the spying. 7 is dead.

For many people Windows 7 was free, just as any prior and all subsequent versions.

Man, I've got to say though- what a great operating system. I think Win7 is, was, and always will be my all time favorite version of Windows. No BS 'metro' frills, XP-like in functionality, and it just worked. I like win10 also, so I'm not one of those who just refuse to adopt change- but at the same time I don't care for the cortana nonsense and wouldn't mind win10 to be more like win7 in that windows sticks to what it's good at... releasing plain old no-frills, no bells and whistles, windows.

Yeah, this isn't going to happen as they'll be code from Windows 7 that's still used in Windows 10. Get over it people, plenty of great alternatives out there if you don't like Windows 10.
