Free Key Loggers?

I think I may have a cheating g/f. I walked into the room in our apartment and she scrambled to close her aim window the second she noticed I was there. Ths happened three times the other night. Does anyone know of a keylogger that can get the job done for free? Is there possibly a free trial out there that will actually let me see what gets logged without telling me I have to purchase to use that function? I couldnt see myself ever needing this kind of software again after this so I dont want to pay $$ if I dont have to. This is a stressful situation so help is needed asap. If the b1tch is cheating then I want here out today. :)
 
This is one of those "oh I won't touch this post with a 10 foot pole" kinda situations. I got involved with such a thing last year right here at this forum and it ended up going badly on the person who was looking for keyloggers - it blew up in his face and last I heard he went a bit nutz0r and took the physical route and is now doing time for battery on his gf, so forgive me for just tossing this out there and saying "This is something you should probably handle on your own and not ask for others to get involved in."

i do hate ths internet in that sense, it is so easy for people to "cheat" in a way, even if it is soley online and tyhey dont think it is wrong, because all your doing is talking and shit, but then you get into web cams and crap.

frankly i would tell her,

I have come home 3 times and you slam your laptop shut so fast like you want to hide something, what is it your doing? Are you cheating on me with someone online?

then tell her if she cant be honest with you then how can you have a trusting relationship and kick her ass out if she wont tell you.


Is she computer savy?

did you write this post on the computer she uses or, just to make sure she cant come here and see this post.

Good point, it makes you no better then her, "spying" on her cause now you dont trust her, and even though she may not find out.


Then even if you do find something, you then have to admit that YOU spied on her, and then this all gets turned around and YOUR the bad person for spying, not her for cheating.

does she save her message history.
 
The IM program should keep logs.

Hate to beat a dead horse here but.....

First, I'm pretty sure I remember the thread bbz_Ghost referred to earlier, and if it's the one I'm thinking about.... it was pretty bad. I had no idea the guy turned out to be a nutjob and kicked the shit out of his girlfriend, but that whole thread was a bit on the psycho side from post number one.

The point is, keyloggers never make things better. If you think your girlfriend is cheating on you, confront her with your concerns, don't sneak around and spy on her. Rather she is cheating or not is not really the issue, the means in which you wish find out are. Just talk to her.... simple, because in the end, when she finds out you installed a keylogger on her computer.... you two are done, I guarantee it.

In short, dont be a douchebag. Spying on people is never the answer, if you have a concern, just as her and make sure she feels safe answering truthfully.

So why close IM if your looking at porn..... maybe IE?


"need" the whole point of being in a relationship it to be open with each other, if you look at porn, fine, look at it, i understand you need to have seperate lives out of your relationship, but "hiding" things is not a good sign of a health relationship.
 
If you feel that its worth the risk to ruin your relationship by spying on ur GF, enable logging of her AIM account. Look for it yourself in the AIM settings.

Be like everyone here has said, I would not recommend spying. Do what digital_exhaust has recommended. Quoted again for truth:

Another method would be to run Wireshark in the background on the machine. If she isn't very computer-savvy tell her it's scanning for viruses or something and have it silently log AIM and Yahoo! ports. Should get the job done so long as she doesn't have security enabled on AIM.

You don't "do time" for battery. That's a misdemeanor man.

I know because not only am I a senior in Criminal Justice (minor is PoliSci) but I once threw a lab manual (plastic spiral bound with 30-40 pages of copy paper) at a then-girlfriend and was charged with third degree battery.

Long story short, I fought it with a good lawyer and won.

Wow, that sounds even more wimp-like and idiotic than the OP's story that started all this in the first place. Geez... you admit to it almost like you're proud of what you accomplished.

Wimp-like? Absolutely. The proper thing would've been to walk away.

It's a shame you don't know the background, but it's not as if you'd care anyways and I couldn't fault you for that.

Am I proud I beat a third degree battery charge? Absolutely. I threw a lab manual at the girl from a distance of ~10-12 feet. An object with the weight of less than a pound and spread out so far it's impossible damage could occur from it.

Did I learn anything? Yes, I learned plenty. Among those things, I learned despite the triviality of the action, there were "consequences." Put plainly, don't throw things at girls.

I found it completely asinine I was charged with it anyways!

Tell me, you've NEVER had a girlfriend/wife throw something at you? Even something completely harmless? You've never had anyone throw anything at you?

Edit: If you've never had a life experience where you haven't thrown something at someone or had someone throw something at you you're the wimp.
