FREE Android Apps on Amazon - Swype Keyboard, Worms 2, Runtastic Pro & more

You do not need to own an Amazon tablet. Any Android device can get them, if you install their appstore.

Unless the app is a Kindle Fire Edition, which means you won't be able to use it unless you have an Android-based Kindle or Kindle Fire.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I installed the apps on both my LG G2 smartphone and on my rooted Nook HD+ without difficulties.

Yeah, I have some Kindle Fire Edition apps running on my Touchpad with CM on it. If you can't run it, it might be something else about your device preventing it from running.

i never knew that you could run the apps with 'Kindle Tablet Edition' notation on non kindle fire devices.

You just need to install the AppStore (as linked in OP), and get it through it. The apps are still plain ol' Android apps. They have daily free apps, so definitely worth having, if for no other reason.

i mean for example when a person goes here http://www.amazon.com/Worms-Armaged...8?s=mobile-apps&ie=UTF8&qid=1395424617&sr=1-8 it would list all my devices as incompatible, and although i could still get it i would get a warning that none of my devices would work etc. One time I bought http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007XKEZ7O/ and it never worked on my non-kindle fire device.

Sometimes there are 2 version of an app, like a "kindle tablet edition" and a non-kindle edition. But after my one experience trying to play one that specifically said for kindle devices i never bothered to try any others like that to see if they worked.

I also got a $1 promotional credit for "purchasing" one of the games. So, even if you don't play the app, you may still gain benefit.

Well, oddly enough, I get the same message of incompatibility for Worms when visiting the webpage, but since I simply clicked on the app in the Amazon App store instead on my phone and tablet, I can only presume it is a website bug. Needless to say, Worms, Runtastic Pro, and Monopoly all work fine.

there is a generic version of worms on amazon, and monopoly and runtastic is not a specific 'kindle tablet edition'.

amazon is not just filled with kindle device apps, it has a mix of generic that most anyone could use, along with kindle-specific ones.

i did a test by going to the amazon website and getting both the generic worms and the one for kindle.

then on my tablet i searched for the game, and only one showed up for download.
next i deleted the generic one from my amazon account and it did not show any worms game at all, despite not deleting the kindle specific version.

so i don't know how a person can even access specific kindle tablet versions on a non-kindle device.
