In the 2018 - 2019 season, Epic Games will provide $100,000,000 to fund prize pools for Fortnite competitions. We’re getting behind competitive play in a big way, but our approach will be different - we plan to be more inclusive, and focused on the joy of playing and watching the game.

Wow with that kind of cash we may see an exodus from competitive Overwatch. I wonder how Fortnites esports format will fair compared to what we have seen with PUBG. Most competitive formats strive to remove the element of luck, but it seems setting up a scoring system for battle royal is proving difficult.

Awesome, hoping this is a lot better than the Overwatch League has been. As a former competitive TF2 player I was really wanting OWL to take off, but watching the games there's a huge disparity in the team qualities ranging from meh players to no prep and coaching resulting in many of the "pro" games being no better than watching a top a streamers' PUG games.
