Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition

those screenshots don't look too terrible...even without AA...looks better then Dragon Age: Origins...sucks about the lack of graphics options and the fact that they made no effort to improve the PC version...but I still think I'm going to pick this one up...the gameplay might somewhat make this worth $36

It doesn't support 1680 x 1050 so my monitor is out. No way I'm playing it outside native resolution, not even for $5.

LOL!!

I saw some demo over on youtube and wasn't impressed. The guy didn't even use any force powers - he just used his saber. Bbbbbbboring.

theres some objectives that require you to use the force.. for example the 2 screen shots i took at the end you see me picking up the crate.. theres a generator you have to rip open using the force.. then take a crate and bash it into the generator to get to the next objective.. only thing i couldnt figure out was how to get back to where i needed to go.. so i quit playing after that since i was to tired to screw around with it any more..

hmm i wonder why it didnt show up on my list.. maybe because i have a 1920x1200 native resolution monitor?

Crikey that needs some AA.

Does it support 1920x1080 (surely....)? Might pick it up when it's cheapo.

I know the game itself does not have an AA option, but can you force (pun pun PUN) it from the control panels (Green/red)?

yea, but you have to rename the exe to UT3.exe or bioshock.exe with ATI hardware.

This, PC gamers put up a fight for this so get off your arses and buy it. Lucasarts needs to realized we still matter so maybe one day we'll get a new Jedi Knight or Tie Fighter.

Here is the forum thread at Lucasarts which I think pushed Lucasarts to releases a PC version.

Why do we always get such crap ports though. None of these companies that do PC ports should be able to lock the framerate. There should be some min requirements on PC ports - like graphic options, non fps cap, controller and m/k support, etc. At least put out a quality product, not this shit.

because like i said in my long post on page one.. this is a 100% direct xbox 360 to pc port.. the max frame rate for the 360 is 30fps.. also note disc one is only the wmv9 HD audio which is a xbox 360 codec but works on PC as well.. since console has preset unchangable graphics.. pretty much tells you why you cant change them on PC as well.. which is why i stand by my original comment that this is a 100% direct xbox 360 to pc ported game..

GamingHeaven Ultimate Sith Edition (PC) review...

http://www.gamingheaven.net/gamingreviews.php?reviewid=844

Lame review imo. They talk about nothing PC specific, they just recap the additional content, most of which we already knew. Where is the commentary on the graphics adjustment (or lack thereof)? What about standard PC controls? Did he have trouble using KB/M or did he simply use a lamepad? (negating the benefit of playing it on the PC). Nothing PC gamers considering this release want to know was covered in this review. Sorry, but FAIL! (not you, but the reviewer)

Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition v1.1 Patch

**maybe they improved the PC code?...can I hope for improved graphics?

Gamespot gives this a 5/10, citing serious performance issues and a plethora of problems relating to it being ported.

Given Gamespot's tendency to overrate PC ports, the fact they gave this a 5 probably means it sucks hard enough to avoid. It was reviewed by Kevin VanOrd though, who generally cuts through the rubbish and gives more accurate reviews than the usual Gamespot effort.

Didn't like the game, felt more like you're swinging a whiffle bat than a lightsaber. Lightsabers should CLEAVE through badguys. That's what makes them so riveting, they're supposed to be ridiculously dangerous. Had much more fun with Jedi Outcast with lightsaber damage ramped up.

anyone planning on picking this up?...I never played the console version released last year and even though it got average reviews I'm definitely interested in playing this...probably has to do with the Star Wars geek inside of me but I'm looking forward to playing a bad ass Sith apprentice...the PC version comes with a bonus level or 2 along with all the DLC...anyone else interested in this game?

It's probably not what you're expecting. All the revolutionary tech they showed is used to minimal effect and the gameplay is utterly shallow. You just mash the attack buttons at stormtroopers to make them fly. Plus, the force powers and lightsaber combat is pretty bastardized. All that anime-infused crap like slicing AT-ST's in half with one swipe and ker-sploding yourself in a splosion of Jap--er....Force electricity :D

I'm really enjoying this - didn't realize there were multiple campaigns you can do. Its not just light saber swinging you need to balance that and force powers. The new patch helped - lets hope they remove the cap.

The game runs good for me. I started playing it post patch and I'm getting a kick out of the game.

I'm about 2.5 hours into it and tonight my computer sounded like a fan was slowly increasing it's RPM. My 8800GT was running extremely hot for some reason. The game must've pushed it somehow.

its doubtful they will remove the cap.. but its not really that big of a deal.. people are just fussing over it because they dont know how frame rates work in comparison to refresh rates on their monitors.. and since theres no real graphic choices in the game its not going to matter anyways...

yeah.. woopy i got 60fps.. oh crap it looks exactly the same as it did at 30fps.. lets find something else to complain about now..

Well I bought it, I really enjoyed the PSP version quite a bit and I liked the PS3 version decently well. I'm hoping by the time it gets here that 2560x1600 is supported and I can see it in true glory at that resolution. It really was a gorgeous game at 720p on my PS3.

I'm forcing AA and AF from the CCC, I'm at my monitors native res of 1680 and the game looks great. I dunno what you are complaining about, the game looks amazing! 30 fps kills my eyes though, we need to unlock that cap or at least cap it at 60 like U3 games. Honestly, from your post I'd assume you haven't even played the game yet.

seems like removing the 30fps cap would make the game much better according to most people here

I decided to bite, first impressions so far: Holy fucking install time batman! This is hands down the longest install I've ever had to do. I'm about 40% through at the moment

It was a long install on mine too and after the wait and anticipation I only played for a short time. Not keeping my interest like I thought it would. Will try it again later.

As someone stated some time ago in this thread, you can enable AA in this game!

For ATI Radeon users, rename SWTFU.exe to Bioshock.exe
Set the desired AA level in the Catalyst Control Center and make sure to disable Adaptive Anti-Aliasing (transparency) AAA (else the graphics look really weird).

I have a 4870 512MB playing at 1920x1200 and 4xAA with a constant 30fps (well almost).

Nvidia users should also be able to do something with nhancer (I don't know).

yup took 58 minutes or what ever to install.. mostly because of the stupid WMV9 HD audio which isnt needed for pc.. but was the first sign that i knew it was a complete console to PC port without actually reading about it.. the audio alone is 11 gigs..
