I posted this on another forum. I did it and it fixed the problem of not being able to play any media that used WMP 10. I've heard of people having problems with this. If you could try it out and just post if it worked or not that would be good.

---

If .wmv files don't play:
Download this:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en
That download is made for Windows XP N, which is the only version of Windows XP Microsoft is allowed to sell in certain European countries, but the download will work on all XP versions. What it does is it restores everything that Microsoft was ordered to remove. I installed this thing and I don't run XP N.

And then reinstall WMP 10:

No need to uninstall it first.

The first download will unpack the plugins needed for FireFox to play .wmv files correctly. The second one will autodetect FireFox, copy the appropriate plugins to the FireFox plugins folder and then make some registry changes. If you don't run the first file, then the WMP 10 installer will simply ignore FireFox and not install anything.

To test to see if the plugins are working by going to about:plugins
It should look like this somewhere:

And if you can't play other stuff, just install Quicktime 7.0.

The parts where I explained what each of the files do is just my conclusions on what is going on, and they are not set in stone, even though that is what I observed to be happening.

Also, as a sidenote, seeing as this forum is pretty big, there are most likely [H]ard members in other countries using Windows XP N. If you are using that OS, just be warned that the first file will essentially patch your Windows XP N back to the regular Windows XP.
