I have a Proliant DL180 G6 with 48GB of ram and 2x Xeon E5620 CPUs @ 2.4GHz with Hyperthreading enabled, giving me 16 processor instances.

It is currently sitting idle and I want to fold with it. Can this server fold with bigadv enabled?

What are the implications if I turn on bigadv and it can't turn over the work unit fast enough?

Are there any client settings I should do to make sure I only receive work units that I can reasonably hope to finish?

No, won't make it.

Need dual hex at 2.66ghz from that era to make it.

You should not turn on big-adv as you will not make the preferred deadline on all units causing them to have to be recalculated by someone else. -smp 16 is your flag.

I concur. I have a dual E5649 which won't make the 8101 deadline, but works fine with 8103, 8104, 8105. The X5650 is the lowest end CPU for that system if you want bigadv for all WUs.

You run smp, without the bigadv flag.... and you only get smp.
