These things were almost always good for 450. Loved those old school Alpha copper coolers from this era also

Plug and Pray.God. 20 years have gone by that fast? Guess so. Daughter turning 21. Jeez, where the hell did the years go. I don't miss technology back then though. Plug and Play. Yeah right.
His box, or her's?Plug and Pray.
Compared to the full-blown PIIs, they were fantastic values for the money. They absolutely sucked without L2 cache, but once that was introduced, it was game over for the PIIs.Hmmm, I don't remember that so much, I know some were good overclokers, but people I was selling to didn't OC. But I never found the price performance that great. They did make good cheap workstations though where the server was doing a lot of the work. But as always mileage may very.
Don't forget to assign the IRQ, unless you like crashing your PC.Plug and Pray.
Well maybe the Mendicino was better than I remember, though it was never really meant to be the performance choice. After that there were often better alternatives in the cheap segment like the AMD duron as I recall. I actually did have Mendicino for a short while but it was a real dud that did not OC well and I just sold it off (maybe dual fans would have helped), so that soured me a bit .His box, or her's?

I mean, the best value proposition at the time was the PII-333 OCed to ~400MHz or thereabouts.
(being a dumba*s 17yo, I had to swing for the PII-400, you know, for e-peen)
Wat? Mendocino was '98, the Thunderbird-based Duron came a few years afterWell maybe the Mendicino was better than I remember, though it was never really meant to be the performance choice. Yes, I know, which is why I said "After that" .Wat? Mendocino was '98, the Thunderbird-based Duron came a few years after
Sadly you missed last night's bourbon.Sure next time I’m in Texas area.
I don’t swing that way though, so you’ll have to get me pretty drunk if you want me to keep calling you handsome. Top shelf whiskey is preferred.
My bad, missed that.Yes, I know, which is why I said "After that" .
that reminds me of when I learned to turn on DMA for IDE drives, and then later when I upgraded to 80 wire cables and actually saw improvements.tweak3d and hardocp 1998-2001 taught me many of my skills! still remembering going apeshit discovering ddr
Yeah and I also remember all the headaches of configuring codecs/filters for various avi/divx/wmv/mov for simple playback or worse-converting.Plug and Pray.
You are very correct, sir. Fixed.Voodoo5 6000, sir. The Voodoo2 was the first one with SLI, where you still needed some glorious Tseng ET6000 to draw your desktop for you.
