First time network, having problems.

Well, so my mum kept nagging me to hook up her computer to mine, and I really didn't want to, seeing how I was pretty sure i was goign to have problems...well, lo' and behold...XD

Anyway, all was going well, I could access her files, she could access mine (those that were shared, of course). But I couldn't get the internet going though her computer. So I came back to mine, and I also couldn't acess the internet (if you must know, I was going to make a topic on here then XD). I changed some settings around and then I couldn't even see her in the network, nor could she see me.

So i'm asking for your help. A link to a guide mebbe, or a detailed guide from one of you fellows.

Are you behind a router? Or are you trying to use the dreaded Windows ICS to share the connection to hers?

What is your physical setup now? How is her computer connected to yours, and how was/is yours connected to the internet? What type of internet device is there (cable/dsl/modem or router or brouter?)
