Firewire over network?

I have a weird question. I have a new MacBook and a Mac Mini, and I have a digital camcorder that I connect to over Firewire. Now the Mac Mini has a Firewire port but the new MacBooks do not have one. Is there any software out there that will take my Mac Mini's Firewire port and share it over my gigabit ethernet, and then that software will create a virtual Firewire port on my MacBook? I know you can do this with USB, is there anything that will do it for Firewire?

I saw a program called DVTS that does a DV Stream over ethernet, I don't know if it has all the features I need but it's outdated and crashes on the latest version of Mac OS X

Reading that article and others it looks like OSX doesn't support 1394c which could run FireWire over Ethernet. It's an OS issue it looks like.
