OK guys, I'm giving Firefox and XPlite a go.

Clean install of XP SP2. Installed XPlite(dual boot) and stripped everything out but the Nic drivers. Installed firefox, flashplayer plugin and MS Java(I don't care for Suns version). Is it possible to make MSJava the plugin for firefox?

BTW, with the exceptions of plugin problems it does seem pretty fast(seat of the pants feel) although there are no other apps installed.

Once you configure it with all of the extensions that you will soon discover, you will never go back to IE. There are 100-200 extensions out there, and some of them fit the "must have" category. Anyway, the Firefox forum might be a good place to ask about MS Java because if it has ever been done, someone there will know. By the way, there is a small Sun Java plugin that you can get, if the size of their big Java package is your main objection.

Another place to ask about the Java issue.

Here are a couple of links to get extensions other than the one the browser takes you to.

Nope, has nothing to do with size, more of the way it handles. Sun's Java just doesn't seem to behave as well as MS's version. I will check out that forum, thanks for the info.

Which ones do you recommend? I've tried Firefox many times, including the newest release, but I always go back to IE6 (with SP2). I just don't see anything special, but maybe I'm missing something. I don't notice anything in the speed department, except for the fact IE6 starts a LOT faster for me.

I have a question too,and I'm just going to add it in here. 1.0 version is slow slow is there anyway to fix the speed? its not as if i'm downloading anything that might take up that bandwith its just slow as garbage. i'm going back to 9.3

I like these extensions, and my Firefox is plenty fast. IE does start faster, however.

Excuse the crummy screenshot, but I couldn't remember them long enough to type them.

What? You don't like the way I did my list? ;)

Actually, I didn't know about it. It would have come in handy, huh? :)
