PC fans of Final Fantasy will not have to wait much longer. Square Enix is bringing over its latest entry in the series with Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition a lot sooner than expected. NVIDIA released a trailer showcasing the "ultimate quality" of the game using NVIDIA Tech. Along with the now welcome PC boost in features is a new first-person mode. And a first for PC, the Windows Store, Steam and Origin versions will be available at the same time.

These enhancements are a welcome addition as playing the original release on the PS4 leaves a lot to be desired on the performance end. Maybe I can find sometime to complete it on PC when it releases next year.

Check out the PC goodness.

Last year's critically acclaimed JRPG is coming to PC with breathtaking enhancements thanks to NVIDIA technologies like GameWorks, Ansel, Shadowplay Highlights, 4K textures, and so much more.

Sweet. I can't wait. I wanted to play it since it came on the PS4 but since mine collects dust, no go!

Wait one moment... How'd Square sneak the mechanic's attire past the feminists?

Why I do declare, her clothes could charm the dew off the honeysuckle.

This is why I am a PC gamer. The grfx will always be 1 or 2 steps ahead of the console every generation cycle no matter what. I own an xbox one for exclusive console games I want to play, but my default is and will always be PC.

New benchmark killer incoming? First person sounds awesome, if not a little daunting with all that jumping around.

Yes but us console users got to experience the mass disappointment of this steaming turd years before you.

True but ports of console games often fail on PC even it it was a huge hit on console. Its the balance sometimes the Ports are better off especially when the graphics get upgraded and FPS is unlocked.

FFXV story is the least absurd since FFIX. I also think most people agree the story and gameplay are actually good and while there was issues with one chapter feeling incomplete SE actually patched that chapter with serious changes.

The PC fans can now experience the rush and disjointed story of FFXV in 4K.

The story serves its purpose and that's about it. For me, FFXV is all about the beautifully designed world, the banter between the four friends, and the damn good combat and progression system. The story exists as a reason to go from point A to point B, but FFXV is a prime example of the journey itself mattering more than reason for the journey.

So, in cases like this - your graphics may be 1 or 2 steps ahead, but you are 1 or 2 steps behind on the game release. Not every console game is like that, but it seems that even of the ones that have simultaneous, or near simultaneous, release - you would have rather that they did and took their time to make a legit PC game, and not a hacked up console port that runs like crap.

I love playing games on my PC, and it is my preferred gaming machine over consoles, so I really do get your point. But I've come to find that games that are designed for the console, tend to just play better on consoles. The graphics may not be as nice, and the load times make me want to pull out my hair sometimes, but overall I don't have to deal with nearly as many glitches or inconsistent performance or KB/M poorly cobbled to replace controller UI, other oddities that a lot of console ports have.

And throw in the "and you have to wait 2 more years before you can play it" and... well, I've already played through the game on PS4. I wouldn't call it GOTY or anything, but I enjoyed it and got my money's worth. Some games I will throw my money at just because I liked it that much and I like to support developers (I do pay for both PC and PS4 versions of FFXIV just for this reason, even though i only very rarely play it on PS4). FFXV I don't think it was good enough of a game to buy again just to see it with better graphics, but to each their own and I wouldn't fault anyone that did, because I bet it will look amazing.

One of the big advantages of games taking 6-12+ months to come to the PC is that all the updates and DLC sometimes comes with the game itself. So even though those people that waited on a PC version missed out on the initial hype and excitement they're getting a better "out of box" experience then those of us who ran out and picked it up last year.

IF the port is good I will double-dip. It seems like FFXV could be the next graphical showcase for the PC and I'd love to be able to play the game at an actually stable, and high, frame rate.

For FFXV it helps if you watch the short anime movies they released for free as well as the full CG movie before playing this. Gives you a better understanding of the characters at least.

That would be my only complaint with the story is that the movie really is required to understand a good deal about what is going on

Not that I'm a FF fan, I have never fully finished any game in the series, just pointing out that the release of this on PC has far better graphics than console even though its release is behind the original date. Multi-platform releases usually PC has the best graphical experience over the other 2 on release day.

The story and dialogue were written fir the Japanese market.

When translated, it sounds like 5th grade crap from nickelodeon. Not to mention it's riddled with plot holes, and is the most closed "open world" game I've played.

5/10

I wonder how much of this will make it over to the One X enhancements of the original. I have to believe that the time spent investing on this version is overlapping with MS's push to get enhanced games on the One X. Perhaps with the bulk being game works related, that may not be the case here.

Doubtfull it will as gameworks does not tend to run well on AMD hardeware. The only thing the One X is likely to see is enhanced 4k textures and more stable framerates. I imagine most devs are going to be leery to go all out till they see how well it sells.

I like the four friends aspect and the food porn. I've already spend over 200 hours on the game but there are things that are super weird like some character just pop up and expect you to know and care about them.

Indeed. It is pretty clear that a lot of the story was cut from the game in order to get it out last year. With how long the game was in development I suspect SE started to pressure Tabata and his team to start cutting stuff so the game could ever get done. If I remember right, Tabata basically started over nearly from scratch when he took over the project and then when SE decided to turn it into a mainline game the entire scope changed.
