The good news is that the director of FFXV would be interested in porting the long gestating title. The bad news is that he would build it from the ground up, which sounds like an expense the publisher wouldn’t be fond of.

Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata is keen on the idea of bringing Square Enix's upcoming RPG to PC, but doing so wouldn't be a simple process, at least if Tabata has his way. "I’m quite positive about the idea of developing a PC version," Tabata told French outlet JeuxVideo in a recent interview. However, his ideas for the hypothetical port are quite different are quite different than the console release Square Enix currently has in production.

It'd be pretty cool if they'd take a risk and let him do the port. This would be the chance to show these console manufacturers that there is a large PC market for well done 'from the ground up' AAA-titles.

I bet it will take 2 years, everything to do with this game has taken ages.

Eh all the FF ports on Steam are pretty poorly done littered with little issues.

Square-Enix's platform ports are quick and dirty. Frame rate caps, lack of options, etc. It is extremely unlikely that Tabata will get his wish regarding the PC version.

Yup, won't happen, they may want to build it from the ground up, but at the end of the day they'll look at potential revenue from PC only sales and then figure at best they can do a quick and dirty port to maximize dollars and in doing so fuck over PC users with an inferior product.
