final fantasy 11 setup "SSL error"

i'm getting a POL-1334 SSL error, and it won't let me buy a character... anyone else get this? i tried bringing my box directly out to the internet (from behind the router), and i still got the error.

i've gotten no hits on google for the error code... i'm off looking for more answers, but maybe someone here has a quick fix?

(and yes, i've checked my puter's date)
