Few Are Pleased at EA’s Latest Take on Command & Conquer

I hope one day the Earth is salted with EA's ashes, with a few of there execs mixed in too.
 
regarding EA's decisions as of late it's sad to say but EA is like a bad dream that doesn't go away once you wake up

The saddest part is that we have a very young generation don't know how good things were. And they never will. Companies won't go back if those who remember just die off.

I think the older generation is just oblivious to the world around them. A company's main goal is to make money. When the older gen was younger, the age of PC's was new and the types of games made then sold well. These days they do not. People want to win so badly they will pay money hand over fist to do so and company's know this. They go where the money is. I am the older generation so I understand the dissatisfaction with newer games and its a strong factor in why I play a lot of older games.. but the days of old are over. They don't sell well, and probably never will again. Everything is now now now and we are falling farther into obscurity.

As an older gamer myself I do agree with this, however I think there is a difference between companies making good money and companies literally raping the consumers back pocket. These days there seems to be a little too much back pocket raping and personally I'm sort of sick of simply being treated like a money pit to greedy corporations.

You are a money pit to every corporation you buy anything from. They all want your money and that is it.

When PC games were a new thing I feel that companies worked for your dollar. Now, meh, they know the game will sell as long as it has a flashy trailer. Why put the work in when it isn't required? Spending money on extra content when half the content will sell just as well.
 
This is not the C&C you are looking for.

Of course, once upon a time, when there was this much disgust for the products that were being produced, someone would start their own company and make the product they thought needed to be made.
 
I've found that EA has become a bunch of suits. They aren't gamers, so they go for the 'accounting' approach. They used to be amazing (as was Activision, formed by former Atari folks that wanted recognition in games). They've strayed for far from their roots. They buy name recognition and try to sell it to the biggest buyer. Fuck the fans, fuck the gamers. Where is the market? Let's go for the most $$, not for making the best game.

While that can make some money, it really tarnishes the brand in the long term. At this point, there are some brands I refuse to buy from until they are on sale and/or reviews prove to me that it's worth buying.

EA, Activision, UbiSoft, etc. are all corporate suits that know nothing of gaming. They know how to sell a pile of shit. They have that. They can sell anything. Just not to me. Sad that I'm going through my old games and EA, Activision, etc. come up as some of the best old school games. Now? Fuck em.

No thanks, EA.
 
Man I remember going as far back as Red Alert. I’m saddened with how things have turned. God I miss the LAN parties I’ve had with C&C.

Maybe, or they are just lamenting greed. I don't like that brain dopamine manipulation as a means to maximize profit (like with drugs) is the way of the world.

Nope microtransactions are where it is at, not sales numbers. Look at FIFA they rake in way more money getting people to buy chances to get players. All they have to do is make the game just good enough to keep people chasing that carrot, they dont have to appease the existing/old fan base to do that either

For example, oblivious would be wondering why they changed, not pining away for the old days.
 
Was hoping for Generals 2.. until they tossed it in the trash bin like an aborted baby. Fucking terrible. Who's going to buy that shit??
 
It doesn't look promising. No live action cutscenes and likely filled with microtransactions. Let me guess, I have to pay to win?

We had Peter Moore come over and give a speech, I remember clearly hoping he would dispel the notion that EA is only out for money and is about the gamers...well let me tell you he confirmed everything we hate about them

This looks like a bad implementation of C&C and a bad re-imagining of the game, *HOWEVER,* I'll wait some more and see.

Also, Seth died in the first C&C game. If they're going to put microtransactions in the game, that's not a good thing. The hexes make it look interesting though. And I'm glad that the sides aren't mirror images of each other.

OK FINE I'LL TURN THE OPTIMISM OFF WHAT THE ACTUAL FLIP EA?!?!??!?!?!
 
Not sure why EA had to do this, RTS games are better experienced and played on a PC, not mobile or even consoles. When I first heard about this I was rather annoyed, because C&C was my favourite series, ever since they canned Westwood Studios the franchise was never the same, C&C 4 was utter garbage and they had to tarnish the series more with a shitty mobile game which most likely isn't going to be good. Should have left the series dead because we don't need anymore poorly produced games that will ruin the franchise further.

Ironically, for that demographic that IS what will make them the most money. It won't make them as much money as a runaway mobile game, but C&C fans were never going to go for that anyway, so it's imaginary money, it was never going to be real.

What EA executives fail to understand is that the only thing for the C&C intellectual property that will make them the most money is another C&C RTS. If they want to cash in on mobile, they need a different IP.
 
Why not this:
1. BioWare/Victory - Makes a single player story driven C&C
2. A separate online competitive balanced version of the game
3. Mobile tap-n-pay money hog game

I don't understand why they would pay money to make something, change it, and cancel it. Seems like the logical conclusion is to just make more games for each market since there IS a market for all 3!

I won't buy this new version of CC or Battlefield, but If EA approached me to sell my game at the cost of butchering the gameplay, I would most likely take the payout if it was high enough. The only time morality doesn't take a back seat is when someone's life or well being is concerned.
 
It has been so long since they put out a good C&C game. The old C&C games were all great. Surprisingly, C&C3 and its expansion were really good. Red Alert 3 had a really well done coop campaign.
 
I don't care that EA wants to make a mobile C&C game. I do care that C&C 4 was a flaming pile of shit and that the prospects of a real PC based C&C game seem dim at best.
 
Well, as a publicly traded company, EA's job is to generate and grow revenue.

Not necessarily produce games that the fans love.

Sadly.

And it's waaay easier to make a game like this than to produce an epic game with depth that also generates revenue for the company.

Symptomatic of not just the game industry, but many, many other industries.

Gigantic companies purchase smaller ones since they can't innovate themselves, and destroy any notion of competition.

Its the consumer who ultimately suffers.
