I recently just installed fedora core 5 on my old box and I got the httpd server up and running. I now want to install and configure my ftp server so i can transfer my website over to it. The thing is, when I try to add/remove software, it'll come up and say "retrieving software information" and then an error window will come up and say "cannot retrieve software information".
I also try to find it in the services manager and I cannot find vsftpd.
i'm a complete n00b when it comes to linux... so i google'd and found this guide to help me get things working right.
That guide says to go to applications > add/remove software > enter root pw > then servers > then ftp server. But since i can't get to add/remove software - i cannot do this.
Does anyone have any other guides I could use?
What do I need to do to get my ftp server running? Where can I get an ftp server?
FYI - this is my first install/work on any linux. So far i like it
