No, I chose the job myself. I know what is required.
And therein, I think, lies the difference.

No, I chose the job myself. I know what is required.
You obviously have no clue what you are talking about.
TSA (Transportation Security Agency) is who searches your luggage. They aren't really law enforcement.
US Customs (ICE) is law enforcement. The folks you see at the ports of entry are low level guys. Agents, like my father, investigate and arrest many people. I assure you they are not sitting around. They handle the following:
Fraud: Fake merchandise brought into the US. This also include companies who fudge numbers on product they bring over to avoid tariffs.
Drugs: Anything from small amounts to TONS of illegal drugs. Raids, controlled deliveries, surveillance-this is a busy area.
Child porn: Another busy area. Undercover work, internet surveillance/investigation...etc.
And tons of other crap.
These people put themselves in harms way many times in their career. For YOUR better life.
So before you go off and insult good people by saying they do nothing-know what you're talking about. People do work hard to keep you and your children safe.
Smokescreen eh?Actually I am fairly certain I know exactly who was tossing my luguage this morning when I came back into the US and it wasn't the TSA given it was the customs agents but thanks anyway. Oh and the "think of the children" card it is still is a smokescreen. ICE doesn't do their job...period. There are 20 million illegals and growing here that prove it everyday.
Smokescreen eh?
I was hanging out with my dad this weekend when we passed a large popular mall in Tempe (suburb of Phoenix). He mentioned to me that they had worked an operation there; agents working undercover, internet work. They arrested a number of people. All for child porn, and all at the arcade located in the mall.
Still a smokescreen?
Oh, and don't get your agencies mixed up. ICE is primarily and investigation and law enforcement operation. CBP (formerly Border Patrol) handles the border. I suppose they work together a bit, but there is a distinct separation.
Either way-stop being huffy about having your bag searched. It's not ICE/CBP's fault-it's the criminals. People do stupid shit and ruin it for all of us. Everyone here should have learned that lesson by now.
I called homeland security on some Palestinian Solidarity Movement supporters at the University of Michigan the other day. They were getting violent and jumping out in front of my car.![]()
Blog children often struggle to understand what real world threats are because they just sit behind the keyboard and haven't been out into the real world much. It isn't worth the effort trying to explain things. They just echo the rhetoric of their daily kos peers that somehow there is a governmental man behind the curtain that has control over their lives in some way or another through false realities of over inflated security beef ups. In reality, they are actually the ones hurting their own personal freedoms creating a false reality for themselves behind the keyboard day in an day out. It is almost like they actually are trapped in a security stricken government controlled society, but it is all in their own mind and turns into their own reality because they actually believe it. Its sort of like how people who believe in something enough can cheat a lie detector test. Then they'll turn around as adults and vote in your Harry Reids, Nancy Pelosi's, and Dianne Feinstien's. The exact people that really do want to put a limit on your political speech freedoms, through programs like political free speech reform and national public radio equal talk time.
Yes since it isn't their primary responsibility and "think of the children" is the justication used to do anything the government wants but what they are supposed to do.
Yeah I don't think you quite get the point since you have apparently never actually been on the warm greeting side of customs bullshit.
hopefully we aren't heading towards this![]()
Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions but was that directed at me?If so, that may be the first time I've been lectured to by someone nearly a decade my junior! (But the older I get, I'm sure it won't be the last.) I'm married, with two kids, a decent job in advertising, am a conservative, and always enjoy a healthy debate, online or otherwise. And I've never played WoW. But maybe I should...
Go watch more hollywood movies.
Sounds Double Plus good to me !![]()

For convicted criminals. Ok. For the general population, oh hell no.
Yea, all the colleges are breeding grounds for these idiots now. Berkeley is the worst though. They are full of teachers pushing their own political agenda on students instead of teaching them the subjects they should be teaching. Parents are paying for their kids to be indoctrinated with lunacy and brainwashed now. Instead of pushing out students with an education, they are pushing out brainwashed radicals. It's a lot like the radical schools in arab countries.
Are you kidding me? Who's the one sounding brainwashed. Excuse me while I give up my rights. Oh? The government wants to chip you so it knows who is a legal, law abiding citizen? Sure, why not? Once you give the government the right to take away your rights, they are gone forever. I for one do not want the government to have all this information about me. And don't get me started on this Real ID bullshit. I am not a criminal or a terrorist. I just believe that my life is my business and the government should be working for me, not against me.
Read the article.
With that in mind, I've already had all my info taken and directly uploaded to the FBI, so I'm all set. (note: I'm not a criminal... lol)
If you aren't planning on being a criminal, there isn't a worry. You guys need to stop having such over-inflated ego's to think the US gov't actually gives a shit about your worthless civilian life.![]()
Yeah, you have to stay on top of the internet. The high schooler conspiracy theorists have all the answers. That's where it's at.
"The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either."
Benjamin Franklin
There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day, while the class was in the lab, the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.
The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.
In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"
The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. "You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd."
"Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity."
The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America . The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms - just a little at a time.
One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free Lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.
Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably ignore this, but what will you do when the gate slams shut?
"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have." - Thomas Jefferson
If you want an even better read that will open up your eyelids, here..
Seems someone beat me to my answer."The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either."
