Fatal1ty loses 11-1

Good lesson learned here: there is ALWAYS someone better than you. Hes a damn good player though regardless,

I've heard the name and that he's good and whatnot, but its usually others saying that, not him. (Then again I've never read anything by him)

And I have no problem with his name being on stuff. Hell, if a company came to you and said "we'll give you 50 grand just to put your name on stuff" wouldn't you do it?

that wasnt no chump that beat him

"Laurens "lauke" Pluijmaekers is the reining UT2004 champion for WCG, EOGC and the Cyber X Games"

Cocky or not, I'de love to be in his shoes...oh wait...maybe Nike will sponsor him..."Just Frag It."

Laurens "lauke" Pluijmaekers is the reining UT2004 champion for WCG, EOGC and the Cyber X Games. Unlike Fatal1ty, who has won tournaments with different types of games, Laurens is a UT2004 specialist. When playing UT2004 against lauke, Fatal1ty was really the underdog.

A UT2004 specialist. That's such an awesome title. :D

It would have been more interesting if they played a game other than UT2004 after Fatal1ty was beaten to see what would happen (I guess Fatal1ty would've won).

I thought the Fatal1ty fellow was mainly an upgrade-whore who timed spawns on special items (Such as those in Quake III).

I had always heard that he is not the tops at any one game, but that he can pick up any game and be very competitive in it in a short period of time.

seeing how that guy plays nothing but ut2k4 i'm not suprised. fatal1ty is a damn good player but he plays alot of games. someone who plays nothing but ut2k4 will win.

golden rule there is someone alwasy better then you out there.

I believe Fatal1ty is also signed up to compete in the US World Painkiller tournament with 1st prize being 150k if I remember right later this year. The US qualifications are set to be played in Texas July 6th through the 11th with 1st prize for the qualification is 15k. I would bet that if he is as I believe infact in this tournament. That he's most likely practicing PainKiller as much as possible as I've read he practices 8 hours a day. So its not surprising to me that he might get beat @ E3 playing a game he has no real reason to be playing right now.

he won the Doom 3 tourney at quakecon. since then, closest he's come was third at cpl dallas and turkey. he's been playing painkiller and has had a tough time beating Vo0 and Zyz.

ya, he plays painkiller now and is in the World Tour for CPL. He does have a tough time beating vo0 and zyz. Hes ranked top4 in PK

Fatality lost in China I believe. (numbers game right?) So looks like there's room for a better American out there.

he sure made the most of his moment in the spotlight.

But I mean come on... if I could play for 8-12 hours a day I'd pawn his ass. :p These are the guys on BF42 that kick ass but their team always loses cause' they're hiding in a hole or spawn raping while their team is losing bases left and right. I'm not bitter or anything...

Seriously though... they were playing on plasma tv's? I'm wondering how much those smear?

i met rocketboy (beat fatal1ty at doom 3 at the great wall). he practiced for 14 hours a day for a month straight. he had a knot the size of a peanut m&m on his mouse hand from playing so much.

they were playing on flat panels, and the match was being shown on plasmas for the crowd to see.

Didnt fatal1ty get on some Cal-I team in CS after playing it for only a couple of months? OR was this just a Myth about the great one? :p

fatal1ty is still the greatest fps player of all time. the fact of dominating on so many different games is a feat in itself.

If anything, the lost gives us all a little hope that we might be able to beat him one day.

1,200+ kills and he dies 12 times? Is that supposed to be encouraging? :(

Another queston. Is he human?! :D

He is a damn good player, but he isnt the best of everyone, he is just one the best. There are many really good players out there, they just don't compete.

Edit: This isn't the first time he has had his ass handed to him, he got beat even before the fnals in last years summer painkiller 1 v1 if I remember right.

PS: I'd own him at instagibs in 2k4 if I still played.

You know there is some pasty gamer out there that could beat him and the other guy...he just doesn't want to (or can't b/c of the sun or his weight) leave his parents basement to go to E3 and compete. :p

I saw F4tal1ty! at Quakecone 2004, he camps sometimes...and camping is wrong.

I think I would hate gaming if I had to play for 8 hours a day

When gamming becomes a job and you have to put in 8 hours a day .... I really dont see how it could still be fun.

Unless its the only thing going for you ..... I think this statement is closer to the truth.

Replace gaming with doing anything for 8 hours a day. A job is a job. I can think of worse ones than gaming.

i wouldnt do it. Id rather stick with my crummy IT job than game for 8 hours a day. Unless of course you take me back in time to when Everquest 1 just came out.... i had no problem playing 14+ hours a day =P

but FPS games get dull after a while. You have to recycle them and play others

Ok, don't get me wrong, Fatal1ty is surely an exceptional player, but...

People like him seem exceptional sheerly because they only play these fps games where it's really the first kill that decides it all. UT and Quake games are especially flawed in this area. You get the first kill, then you can get the powerups and cover the spawning of all the decent weapons/powerups meaning you'll always be massively ahead any time you meet and fight.

Lame. And this 11-1 defeat is a clear example of this. Fatal1ty lost the all important 1st kill and then was killed 10 times in a row right after. He got lucky at the end though it seems. Shows even a world class player only gets lucky once in every 11 deaths!

I guess this is more of a comment on the games than the players who play them.

But frankly, someone who can sway the entire match of a game like battlefield depending on what team their on impresses me more than somoene who religiously gets good at a game that is ultimately decided on a single kill.

heyyyyyy not his fault it was was ah... LAG... the map sucked... the other guy had a aim bot... but Im sure it was lag yea thats it!! :D

I think he only had one hand the controller, while the other one was stroking his E-PEEN and or massive ego.

The fact that we know his name and are discussing him in this forum has to say something. He's done good for himself in that respect.

And they say, "pick a job you like doing, and never work a day in your life."

I QFT myself.

I know what you mean. I chose to get into something which I really enjoyed. But when you are doing it 5 days a week 8 hours a day ... well it becomes less fun ... real quick. This is a reason I dont want to get into game development, out of fear it will become like anything else ... just a job.

Good. Fuck 'im. 'Sides, having one good anything is destined to cause boredom. Hell, having two good of anything is destined to bore to death. Give me 12 on 12 full of good players, doesn't matter too much what, and that'll be interesting.

I wonder how many of those checks they had sitting around just incase somebody beat him...
