Has anyone had the opportunity to pick up a copy of FC2? If so, list your machine specs and main in-game settings below:

  • CPU
  • RAM
  • GFx Card
  • OS

  • Resolution
  • AA
  • AF
  • Others

*Lets try and keep the emotion out of this thread please. Just the facts. ;)

LMAO, the thread got locked because people were seeing through the BS.:p Oh wow, another Hard preview that has Nvidia Bias.:p:p

I see you have participated to your fullest ability once more. Living up to your name yet again :rolleyes:

Anyway, I will post my performance sometime tomorrow. I still installing drivers and whatnot from my mobo swap and haven't even had a chance to pull up steam yet to start downloading the game.

Wait a second, posting a preview that contradicts every other "preview" or "review" yet again isn't bias? Maybe I'm missing something, but I haven't seen an [H] review that showed the 4870x2 with a performance/value lead except for the dead Age of Conan. I guess just about every review site out there is wrong and [H] is right, its that easy to believe. I stand corrected.:rolleyes:

Your new to [H], yes?
Who knows if it's bunk, but Kyle has always stated that since they bench actal gameplay, not canned benches, their numbers can be quite different.

Not to mention they specifically said that they were having issues with that specific card.

Gee, I wasn't aware that Kyle wrote the review and tested the cards for the review. My bad.

WOW! Very top of the article. I didn't see it either. :p

im playing everything very high 4xAA 16x AF

dx 10 mode, but only gripe is that in dx-10 mode, some things are shaded weird.

like the game will have the tree's shaded neon green.

im running 8.9 drivers though, im going to go to the hotfix drivers for dx10.1 and see how that works.

specs in sig.

One of the only times the general gameplay I have seen matches up with the canned benchmark:

I have yet to see it drop below 40, and its usually between 45-60fps. About 50% of the time its right on 50fps, which was my average in the benchmark.

1920x1200, DX10, 4xAA, Maximum settings.

Is it just my crappy work monitor, or are the colours in the game washed out and dull?

I haven't played the game yet, but I can speak from experience just having come back from South Africa; Kruger National Park, in the north part of the country, is a very dry and dusty desert. I would expect very much of the same IMO.

Yeah, the Devs went through a lot of shit to visit Africa for the game. Check out the video series "Far Cry 2: Location Africa".

Far Cry 2 looks best running on a PC, with clearer textures, better foliage, and less pop-in. The console versions also suffer from the occasional loading hitch when you're driving into a highly populated city. Another key difference is that the PC version lets you save anywhere you want, whereas the 360 and PS3 games only let you use predefined save points

I was torned between the PS3 and PC version and this closes the deal...

Getting 40-75 fps on max settings 8x AA 1920x1200 DX10 usually stays around 50-55 fps.

* CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3 GHz
* RAM - 2GB DDR2-800
* GFx Card - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512
* OS - Windows Vista x64

* Resolution - 1680x1050
* AA - 0x
* AF - In-game default
* Others - Very High settings preset, DX10

Around 45 FPS average.

wow, i keep getting random game crashes throughout the game on the dx10.1 fix drivers :(

i hope it's just the game, cause yea.... its kind of annoying to not have saved for a while and all of a sudden it dies on you...

Does it crash to desktop without any sort of error? If that's the case it happens to me as well, god damn annoying. At one point I was so into the missions I forgot to save for a while and lost 1-2 hours of gameplay.

* CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (stock)
* RAM - 2GB DDR2-800
* GFx Card - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX 768
* OS - Windows Vista x64

* AA - 0x
* AF - In-game default
* Others - Ultra High settings preset, DX10

Didn't check to see the fps, but its amazingly smooth considering its maxed out on my over 2 year old card. :eek:

Totally playable, I'd hazard a guess and at least 25-30 fps average.

yep, no error, just right back to the desktop :(

all well, im just installing vista ultimate 64bit right now, i doubt that'll fix the problem, but i'll be able to access all 8gb of my memory now :D

1st test is done with everything maxed out except shadows set to "high" @ 1920X1200 DX10

AVG: 61.97
MAX: 86.02

MIN: 36.76

I am running Far Cry 2 on a Q6600 @3.2ghz with a 8800GT 512mb OC 710/1020, 4gb RAM, Abit IP-35 Pro with a resolution of 1680x1050 DX10 Ultra High except Very High on Shadows and get a nice steady fps of 35-60 and is a higher average than Crysis. The only problem im having is that the mouse movement is very sluggish and laggy. I know that fps affects this but I get less fps in crysis buy yet the mouse is much more responsive.

Anyone else having this problem or point me in the right direction to other people with this problem?

Make sure to have the latest drivers, it could explain some of the ctds, well at least some people have experienced some missing pixels and white gleams.

I disabled vsync and that had fixed my problem. Very similar setup as you. SPecs in sig.

This game is great i love it , i also noticed how well it runs with SLI and crossfire setups.

Sorry for no pics i do not have a site i could upload them too.

With the new hotfix ATI drivers all game settings maxed @ 1920 X 1200 I went from:

AVG: 47.09
MAX: 64.08
MIN: 36.76

To:

AVG: 55.84
MAX: 72.11
MIN: 43.92

A decent increase, hopefully ATI's next full driver release will get us an even better performance increase.

Nice is that with the 8.10's?
