This entire thread is a horrible mistake on my part, and although ive edited and deleted my original post based on the reccomendations of other [H]'ers, it has already been entirely quoted and re-posted on this thread.

I am entirely and sincerely sorry for what I have done and what I have said here.

There is no excuse to pirate games. If you do not want to "support" the companies, than you should not be getting their games at all regardless of the method.

this was just a rare occasion where shelling out ~400$ to see if i could find myself a decent game just wasnt in the budget.
 
I wish there was a way for me to ever forget knowing people like Apathy here exist. Glad I don't know him in real life, what a strain.

Not for me. I'm really enjoying FC2. I love Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars. Deadspace is fine, I don't see any control issues. Stalker: Clear Sky is excellent. Bioshock.....Well I will admit to being highly disappointed by I was so far along on the hype train on that game that it would be impossible to have it live up to my expectations. Fallout 3 is not Oblivion with guns.

From every review ive read here on farcry2, deadspace (pc), and fallout 3, i am extremely happy that when i was a little boy, someone told me how to use torrents to avoid having to waste my money on garbage.

I hear that Deadspace for pc has horrible control issues that make the game nearly unplayable when compared the 360 version. And while I own 360/ps3, i hate playing most FPS on the console for the lack of control that a gamepad offers over a mouse... in most cases at least.

To hear that Fallout 3 is a copy of oblivion with a different skin makes me almost want to cry. Fallout 1 and 2 were some of the most exciting and well thought out games I have ever played. I am still excited for the download the finish, but not as excited as actually getting to play Bioshock all the way through. Or to install Stalker 2 as it should be finished downloading when i get home from work.

So basically deadspace is a loss from the sounds of it just because of the horrible control scheme, but that should be finished dl'ing as well, and I'll figure that out tomorrow.

Oblivion elder scrolls was god awful in terms of combat, so this new fast paced fallout 3 that is supposedly a copy & paste of the aforementioned piece of shit will probably be a complete dissapointment.

Farcry 2 is supposedly boring and repetitive and has been compared to Assasins Creed, which I thoroughly enjoyed, despite its somewhat tedious gameplay.

All I have left at this point is Crysis: Warhead, a two year old Bioshock, Stalker 2, and my high hopes for mirrors edge and gears of war 2.

What a fucking dissapointment so far. Not to mention a complete waste of bandwidth.

Someone else said it in the fallout 3 thread, and they were absolutely right.
Games for the PC will probably never be brought back to their former glory because:

"You won't see complex games again like they made in the mid/late 90s, until console gamepads become either as complex/capable as a keyboard/mouse."

By the way, if any of these games are actually any good at all, I will most likely end up going to buy them because i hate having to use cracks and keygens and anything that goes into my registry and fucks with my thousands of dollars worth of hardware. I just really cant justify spending 50$ just to see if i like something and then being completely let down. it's hurt me too much in the past.

Sometimes finding the energy to hate everything makes me completely exhausted.

I don't understand why you would pirate "shitty" games. If its "shitty" then its not worth playing. If its worth playing, its worth waiting until its in your price range.
 
For what it's worth I looked past your flaunting of piracy and just judged you by the context of your post. The company I keep and care about definitely doesn't include people who say, "...Sometimes finding the energy to hate everything makes me completely exhausted."

so you're suggesting that i should choose games over paying bills, or just not play at all, or wait until i can afford them. and that i shouldn't play games if other people say they suck. i am trying to figure out if any of them are worth buying. whats the hurt in me doing a test run and taking my own demo before i shell out loads of cash to play something that i may or may not like?

i am actually at work right now, working the night shift, 5 days a week, 11pm - 7am. trying to find a little bit of joy out of the small amount of free time that i have between 40hrs of work and 12hrs of class/week. not saying that my life is hard, but god damn, you people are being real hard asses.

i really dont understand why all of you are flaming just based on the piracy or the fact that my post refects that im a little distressed about the current state of pc games.

seriously... someone mind explaining this to me?

Did you even look at the way you worded your own initial post? You made yourself sound like a lazy, cheap, you-know-what that isn't willing to pay for anything. Your wording made it seem like you felt you were entitled to having these games for free no matter what. You claim they're bad without playing them and yet you still persist in downloading "bad" games. You broke your entire post within the first couple sentences.

I like how you completely ignored my post. You asked why I told you why. I don't see how that counts as flaming. I'm just blunt by nature, sorry if you're not able to handle that.

Lock? Kyle is going to ban you for promoting piracy. I agree with the others. If they aren't worth playing, why waste the bandwidth on downloading and the time it takes to install them? We all know you'll try to find something wrong with the game to avoid feeling like paying for them.

no actually i thought you made the one constructive post. and i was busy reposting trying to defend myself when you posted the explanation. i made no personal claims that these games were bad, i only suggested that i may not enjoy them based on the reviews ive read here and my own expectations. i am downloading them for the various reasons ive given.

To see if i actually want to buy the games since i simply cannot afford to buy 5 games just to find one or two i like..
 
Hey didn't you see what happened in the other admitted piracy thread? That guy got banned.

Unfortunately, I have nothing else to add. Berating you on piracy wouldn't solve anything and trying to defend the games mentioned isn't much worth it. Many people are adamant in their opinions.

i am not promoting piracy, i am stating my reasons for demo'ing games before i purchase them. i am totally a loss for the amount of slamming that i am getting here. i really wish someone would have just told me "we dont like piracy here, so don't do it, and don't discuss it".

and as i said before, ive only pirated one game, and it was painkiller, and i hated everytime i had to load that game up knowing it was cracked and had crap in my registry that may lead to me having to reformat.

No.. You see this forum has rules regarding piracy which you feel aren't entitled to you.. However you rip off 5 games, provide a pointless list of games your didn't rip off, and act like you're entitled to your own full length demo... You're obviously oblivious to the problems with piracy these days... Lemme guess, you're boycotting b/c of DRM too ? Do you truly realize how ignorant, simple, and incredibly contradictive you sound??

bleh this sucks. been here for 4 years and now im going to get banned? i love [H}, its helped me so much with my pc woes in my entire history of building and fixing machines. if its really that important, ill completely delete these torrents, swear an oath to god, write an essay on why piracy is bad, and then do whatever the hell else i have to to avoid this kind of crap.

this was my 2nd experience ever with game piracy. really didnt think it'd evoke so many negative reactions.

and no, never said anything bad about DRM. i never really thought id have problems with it since i almost never reformat, and giving a call to the companies to give me another install or two wouldnt be that big of an issue to me.

i am entirely sorry that i have done this, and seriously, my membership here on the forums is far more important to me than playing any game in the future ever.

tell me a song to sing karaoke to and who i write petitions to in order to make anti-piracy laws.

really didnt expect things to go this way.

The question that must be asked is: Do you intend to delete them if you don't like them and buy them if you do?
 
honestly, yea. and i think ive stated that arleady.

i DO NOT like having anything illegal on my hard drives, and i really really hate using cracks and downloading keygens. i fear for my pc's safety. all of them will be deleted once i figure out what my decision is on them

if i like any of these games, im definitely going to go and buy them so i can continue to play them in the future and be able to install them on any hard drive i get, as well as having extra content, manuals, the box etc.

Then I have no issue with you, but you should be careful how you word posts from now on to avoid these situations. Or better yet, avoid admitting to piracy in general.
 
but as i said in a previous post, if it makes [H] happy, ill go homes, fraps my deletion of all the torrents and the files associated with them, and uninstall the only game ive installed so far to do a test run on the PC which is bioshock. 20$ for that one isn't gonna kill this month's budget.

and then, to top it all off, ill post receits my the games i do buy.

if this will appease you guys and the [H] gods, its important enough for me to do.

But seriously though, I wouldn't want to lose a 4 year account over some bullshit like this either.
 
i am sorry for my actions.
but i am not sorry that people assumed that i was someone that just went out and stole games.

and i am absolutely trying to cover my ass, i never thought there'd be such a negative response. i guess it all depends on your intentions though. if i was just someone who stole every piece of media that i wanted, sure id be a dick that was fucking up the entire entertainment industry by helping to bleed it dry. but ive never been one of those people. its like the thousands of dollars ive put in mean nothing at all, and all of a sudden since the demo'ing i am doing includes the entire game, i am a horrible person and my account should be banned.

im completely blown away by it. and by saying that id fraps the deletion of the torrent/games, post receits, write an essay, etc etc etc, i think its pretty clear that i am sincere about my apology.

my intentions were clear, at least i thougth so. demo the game, see if i like it, if i do, buy it, if i dont, dont buy it. either way they all get deleted.

perhaps i should think my posts out in their entirety before hitting the "post new thread" button. i was in a bad mood, and now im sort of in a panic trying to figure out how to make up for what ive done. and as dude above me said, i really really really really dont want to lose a 4 year account from a community that i actually respect and consider myself lucky to have been part of for so long.

seems like ive really screwed this one up.

I've only been here 10 months and I wouldn't want to lose my account over anything. Its hard to find decent hardware communities not filled to the brim with people who think they're betting than everyone else because they might know a thing or two more than you.

i almost never apologize, but i clearly realize that here i am completely in the wrong. i just want to make it right. i hate doing things the wrong way, and i always try my best to make up for them. im going to school to be a nurse! I WANT to help people and do the right thing.

I only care about things that are important to me. Most things im apathetic about, but theres a certain percentage of what goes on in my life that is extremely important to me. And my membership to these forums is certainly one of those things.

Also ive edited most of this thread to remove all of the bad stuff, i think.

Does anyone see anything else that i should be doing to make up for my horrible actions?
 
The gaming industry is bigger than the god damned movie industry right now, these people who are all bleeding heart about how it hurts developers are really overreacting.
