Deleted my Facebook account a few weeks ago, mainly due to what Im reading and hearing in the news. They are going downhill. I still use messenger though to keep up with coworkers and friends.
You didn’t delete your Facebook, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to use Messenger.

Users. The issue is now that so many people are on it, that is their appeal. The all-in-one solution to those 3 also help it.

Ours does to. A website requires the visitor to make the effort to look at the animals and overhead of an IT admin to update. FB allows people to join the group and see all posts and updates, generating a lot more looks as they share and so on. I never said FB was the only way, just a good option.
Reread what you typed and think about that for a moment. You are justifying and supporting the use of FB promote utter laziness? You can pay a high school receptionist minimum wage to setup a free wordpress in a couple hours. How do you think the world operated and conducted business before Facebook?

Put in some normal image advertisements, nobody cares.

Put in 40000 of them and ones with video, sound and all sorts of irritants, misleaing "sponsored" bullshit - people will go to lengths to block them.

The autoplay locked out videos are the worst offenders. I immediately leave any website that intrudes into my home with their obnoxious spam advertising.

I agree with the lazy statement but how did people make calls before cell phones? How did people send letters before email? How did people pay for items before credit cards/e-payments? The world has changed, Facebook - which pains me to say - is now a life/business necessity for some. You think any new small business can survive on paper mail ads, physical sign advertising or email blasts? People zone out what they don't seek and people seek their facebook/twitter/snapchat/instagram feeds.

Utter laziness is a disease spreading across the world one cell phone at a time. Just like your word press example, that still requires someone to go to you and search for your offering/service. We are absolutely in a world of the "do it for me - lazy" which is why things like Google home, Nest, Amazon echo, Alexa, robot vacuums and driver less cars are here. People want stuff done for them by vast majority and for free. FB allows that free and frankly simple medium for your average earth member to receive updates versus seek them out. You think a website, email, flyer, billboard or word of mouth can reach so many people as fast for free? Nope.

There are lots of other digital revenues to advertise in. Including, hopefully soon, facebooks replacement...
