This is like watching to two bitchiest cunts in your high school get into a fist fight. The hardest part is deciding who to cheer for.

The irony of FB getting "banned" for a ToS violation.

Oh bullshit. The whole damn reason Facebook is in business and how they make money is by SELLING YOUR DATA!!!

Facebook needs to die in a God damn fire. Burn their servers to the damn ground.

    Same here.

As much as I dislike Apple, Facebook is far worse.

However, I'm sure Apple will cave in a few days, and the evil will continue.

Try... Facebook is ten times worse. Facebook is a fucking plague.

When will people learn not to trust what comes out of ZuckerBorg's mouth?

They have tried several times and so fair it's failed each time. Even Amazon hasn't made a phone that can disrupt the market... yet.

Facebook was in a pretty big breach of their enterprise certificate. That certificate is only supposed to be used for apps distributed to internal employees. They were using it to distribute apps to consumers. They deserve what they got. I don't think this has much to do with data collections.

Given Cook's outright hostility to FB in the press, I would love it if this happened. Interesting case study: Since a majority of FB users interact on mobile, would effectively 'deplatforming' FB by banning their app from the app store lead to a revolt against Apple, or a revolt against FB for their anti-privacy actions?

It is a little of both indirectly. Correct, that was the reason the certificate was pulled was the misuse of the certificate. However the reason they were misusing it was that Apple had pulled the app from the store and they still wanted people to be able to use it. So they abused the certificate to keep getting their app out there.

From the people I know, Apple would come out ahead. Apple owners tend to love their devices no matter what.

People who use Facebook? The few people I know still on are like "meh" I doubt most would notice if it would be gone.

You know how to tell when she is lying? Her mouth is open. Facebook is a spy company for the government. I deleted my account and find out they still have way to track you even when you deleted your account. That is a spy agency.

They're not removing the public app.. they killed their enterprise cert. Two completely different things.

I hate Apple so much. One can't develop apps on iOS without letting them have full control over your licensing / money making system. I understand your app not being listed on the official store, but why can't I develop an app that is installed manually? It's pretty much next to impossible with Apple, and the way to do it no end user will want to perform. Android allows me to do this. It will never be on the Play store, but I don't care. Hoping Apple dies quickly. Employees there are scum that think way too highly of themselves (argued with some over CSS mailing lists before, and they're completely out of whack). Their company hasn't done anything of value as of lately anyways.

Don't care for Facebook either. Both are giant monopolies that need to fail. Google is evil too. The world looks bleak.

    So Google got hit too.
It would be great if these companies break down relationships completely.. more options, more competition.. even if one of those is closed off (Apple)
Apple could do it I think.
Actually it makes sense to me for Apple to substitute everything Facebook and Google... Their ultra loyal base will make it possible, and their users can still use Facebook on a website anyway...
It would be a very interesting situation indeed.

Things that make you go hmmm...

Facebook says Apple has restored its access to enterprise certificates, bringing internal apps back online

Facebook defends paying people to monitor them through its controversial app in a leaked memo to employees

Note: the article accessible via that second link includes a leaked Facebook memo that Facebook is using to defend the use of the app in question, while avoiding pointing out that children are among those being targeted without the approval of their parents.

Lastly, a rebuttal by TechCrunch about the memo mentioned above:

We dismantle Facebook’s memo defending its “Research”

Given this latest news, it's obviously not the Klingons orbiting Apple's Uranus.

Sadly, there's really nothing else as big as FB. :p
Also it's great for small businesses that don't sell items online instead of using a dedicated website.
