What in the hell does Facebook need with solar powered drones? You know Facebook has way too damn much money when they start wanting to buy drones.

Facebook, one of the primary backers of the Internet.org initiative, which aims to bring affordable Internet access to the 5 billion people in the world who still lack connectivity, is in talks with a company that could help further that agenda. TechCrunch is hearing that Facebook is buying Titan Aerospace, makers of near-orbital, solar-powered drones which can fly for five years without needing to land. According to a source with access to information about the deal, the price for this acquisition is $60 million*.

So now the world elite has a profile on you as well as enhanced spy capabilities? 1984.

Or.... since robots can pass college level exams now and replace all those annoying class ditching students, this will allow them to keep up with your social media demands while fetching you your pizza and beer because the Japanese think we need something better to do then work and achievement is so much less stressful when you remove competition from the equation.

Can you shoot these down in Colorado, Texas, Virginia, or wherever else they encouraged shooting down drones? Did that stance only apply to government-operated drones?

Compared to the 19 billion for whatsapp, why not have some drones for 0.3% of that.

they piss 60 million after their 8am coffee break.

cause they know one day facebook will go the way of myspace and they need some other business to fall back on

Being in the same breath as internet.org, I'd say they plan to use them as broadband repeaters...
