I am just wondering if MS made any improvements to the file explorer interface in Windows 7. It seems like in Vista whenever I open explorer up or go to load / save a file it picks some random layout for the interface. Sometimes I get thumbnails displayed, the next I'll get text details, but things never seem to be consistant like they were with XP and it drives me up the wall. Is there a way to "lock down" a particular view mode in Win 7 and force programs and the OS to use this mode instead of randomly flipping between fle display styles? This improvement alone would make me upgrade.

Thanks for the link - that's one helluva work around! One has to wonder why MS hasn't addressed this with a hotfix or Service Pack as it really impairs the usability of the OS.
