Last month it was supposedly "impossible" to hack an iPhone, this month they are getting hacked by every police department on the planet.

The successful hack of the iPhone 5s in the Los Angeles case is another sign U.S. authorities are turning to third-party contractors to unlock smartphones rather than relying on manufacturers like Apple Inc (AAPL.O), which helped in the past. The third-party hacks have Apple racing to strengthen its encryption technology. Los Angeles police gained access to the iPhone of April Jace, the wife of "The Shield" actor Michael Jace, who is accused of shooting her to death, at their home in May 2014.

Hacking remotely and hacking with physical access are two different things. Jailbreaks have existed since the beginning.

It was unclear which OS was installed on Jace's iPhone. Her killing came after Apple released iOS 7, but before iOS 8.

So it was iOS 7 or earlier. Some hack...

So many seized phones that are Pre-iPhone 5s that are stacked up in court.

So...

Hacking an iPhone makes you a government funded expert now?

If Apple had provided a court supported method of unlocking iPhone, this wouldn't be happening.

Now the hackers are going crazy trying to find a way to hack into iPhones, hoping on a nice pay day. All these hacks will end up on the internet making the iPhone much less secure.

I would say more secure as Apple will have no choice but to patch the security holes as they emerge, finally.

And Apple or are not forced to leave one known security hole open for backdoor access.

So wait, old software may have vulnerabilities?

When did this start happening?
