Exclusive: Demand To Exceed Supply For Intel Rocket Lake Due To Substrate Shortage

I don't know why you didn't mention the 11400. In any case, in my weird situation right now I have everything to complete a computer (including an i5-11500) less the motherboard. These are all new parts and I'm just sitting here waiting for some motherboards to be in stock.

I'm glad I pulled the trigger on an i9-10850k system a couple weeks ago, the 2020 dumpster fire is looking mighty cozy compared to the unfolding 2021 landfill fire. I wanted to go with AMD this time around, but couldn't find a 5800x anywhere close to MSRP, or even available until recently. Having a penchant for buying weird product SKUs saved me a lot of money. Got the 10850k for $374.99, when the 10900k is almost $100 more expensive and only has a 100 MHz higher base clock and TVB for a 100 MHz higher boost clock.

I’ve seen stupid low pricing on i9-10850k’s being posted by some folks, especially given the current market and how much Rocket Lake sucks. You did well, don’t look back.

So why not get a 5800x that was available generally for 500 or less at most places? Save money and energy bills and now the USB issues (never had them myself) are fixed too...

So AMD is vulnerable to Spectre B and demand for Intel is off the charts?

What great news for shareholders!

Because it was unavailable. I waited for months to try and get one, but it was either constantly out of stock, or double or triple the MSRP because of scalpers. When the i9-10850k came along at the price it did, I was sick of waiting and just went with another Intel build. Got nothing against AMD, but I wasn't waiting any longer. I have several other AMD builds with Ryzen CPUs.

2020 was all about the dumpster fire Christmas ornaments, I’m going with a tire fire for 2021.

Not sure if you were being literal but.....here is one I found at Target, Christmas 2020.

Good News Everyone!

BevMo has a ton of stock! And you can hire someone to bring it to you!

I have trouble seeing how demand for Rocket Lake would exceed supply when it's bad compared to Zen 3, and Zen 3 is reliably available at retailers at MSRP now. If there was to be a shortage of Rocket Lake, I would expect supplies of Zen 3 to disappear first.

11900K and 11600K seem to be selling well.

11600k makes sense, because its a fair bit lower priced than a 5600x from all but AMD.com. And the performance is comparable enough.
You haven't been able to easily get an 5600x from AMD for about 2 weeks. And they've only lowered their price to $300, more or less since the launch of Rocket Lake.

I expect the 11400 and 11400f will sell a lot, too. Great performance at a great price. With the power limits maxed out---its better than 10600k in productivity and VERY close to 10600k in gaming (gamers nexus even showed it winning in a couple of games. One game it didn't win max framerate, but the minimums were better). PCI-E 4 compatible.

Intel in 2021 has already sold more 10th gen surplus chips than AMD will make chips for all of 2021. AMD has yet to really make an impact on the OEM market and that makes up some 90% of all sales.
