Simple Exchange question.
If a user is deleted from Active Directory directly and there mailbox is not cleanup before the removal...what does Exchange do? Will it even notice the user has been deleted from AD? If it does notice...does it mark it as a "Disconnected Mailbox" and then its up to the retention policy in place on the DB to delete it or just "hard delete" it?
Working on cleaning up our organization and coming up with a more detailed Server Decom/User Disable and Deletion policy and have noticed Exchange been neglected over the years.
