ExamPrep software error message, Windows at fault

When I try to run student.exe, the examprep software, I get an error that says the following:

16 bit Windows Subsystem
"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows Applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."
Close, Ignore

This seems like a pretty generic error message. Anyone know what might be causing it, or a way around it? Hitting close just closes it, as does ignore.

Browse to C:\WINDOWS\repair and copy autoexec.nt and config.nt to C:\Windows\System32 then reboot for changes.
