GTX980TI's above $400 are no longer even a warm deal ever since the GTX1070 released for $400 and wipes the floor with the GTX980TI in just about every category.

Where did you see GTX1070 wipes the floor of 980Ti? performance wise the 980Ti OC beating out GTX1070 most time.. and yeah 409 is not really good deal anymore since most goes around 380 now days

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Overclocking Review

I don't think either cards really wipe one another lol.

Some say the 1070 kills the 980ti, others say the 980ti kills the 1070.

I don't care, from the figures i've seen neither card out does the other by 15%+.

GTX 1070 because less power consumption and newer tech....

On average and OC to OC, the 980 Ti is 10% faster - but it does consume a lot more power, and isn't as "optimized" for VR.

I picked one of those up 2 weeks ago - it's not in the very top end for overclocking, but using an AIO watercooler I get 1505 stable in everything, and when ambient temps are in the 60's it hits 1525 stable in everything (they are very temperature sensitive).

It's worth it if you already have a 980ti (which I brought another FTW for that reason), It's time to get another one for SLI and then you wipe the floor off the single 1070/1080's in SLI games. ;)

Card is decent enough for the time being, worked out as a last minute buy as part of a new build for my bro. No tax, free shipping, $20 rebate + EVGA Step-Up confirmed. Works.

    Thanks for heads up.

That's $10 more than my 1070 was lol. Thought about going for a 980ti now that prices are gonna drop but the power savings with the new cards are nice since they're similar in performance. Should have better resale value later too making my next upgrade easier.

Only a few dollars will separate these cards on the used market. 980ti prices are holding strong for a reason. The 1070 is being matched at 4K and slower when both are overclocked, this will keep the 980Ti value steady well into next year. Also, if anything major happens like a big driver performance boost, buyers of this card have 90 days to Step Up.

Better have a way to cool the VRMs. There's no cooler cover for the Classified edition to actively cool the card. The cover that comes with it is for reference cards only.

The Kraken G10's fan works just fine for cooling my 980 Ti Classified's VRMs. And don't you need something similar to mount the AIO to the GPU?

Edit: ahh I see, that AIO would make a reference 980 Ti into a hybrid, and the classified's fans can't be used.

Yep, the Hybrid kit is intended to be used with the blower cooler. It's not really compatible with the ACX cooled cards and would require additional modifications to mount a fan to cool the rest of the card.

I won't be able to use the fancy cover, but I have an AIO bracket from an older setup that should fit nicely.

You can go to the live chat on Newegg and get Newegg.com invoices. I did it for two of them. I also called EVGA and they honored them.
    $409 - $20 rebate - $15 coupon - $8 Ebay bucks bring this to $366.

Anandtech - 980 Ti is not overclocked, and very damn close across the board for stock which is known.
Techspot - doesn't show OC to OC, stock is neck and neck - again, known.
    Tweaktown - ditto, ditto, ditto
    PCPer - ditto, ditto, ditto.

My Heaven score with those settings from Tweaktown? Heh, min 36.8 and an average of 153.9 which BEATS the stock 1080 (no 1070 OC results). Whaaaaat?

I scored 5 221 in Fire Strike Ultra - there's my FS Ultra which also beats the stock 1080 (again, no 1070 OC result). What what whaaaat?

I scored 18 327 in Fire Strike - and here's my regular FS which ALSO beats the stock 1080 AND THE 1070 OC BY TWELVE POINT SEVEN PERCENT.

Yes, I'm only looking at the graphics score (click the link, Hard forum automagically did them with my overall score) for the 3DMark tests since comparing total scores is not all that great a measure of GPU unless the GPU is held back by the CPU.

EDIT: Metro Last Light (redux version) - 158 FPS, 11% faster than the 1070 OC.

My argument was for stock cards, never did I mention OC.
Each GTX980TI’s OC capabilities varies widely. As you know, overclocking is not uniform, therefore it is not a valid argument, thus a moot point. Also, it was never intention to talk about OC.

Besides, I can always cherry pick my graphs and show an OC GTX1070 > OC GTX980TI in a majority of tested games at a variety of settings.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Overclocking Review » Page 4 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Overclocked Testing: Battlefield 4, Witcher III: Wild Hunt

You seem to agree GTX1070 > GTX980TI, both at stock across the board in almost every game tested, and guess what happens when you lose across the board? I’m pretty sure that is called a wipe, so I’m not too sure what you’re trying to argue lol

Stock 980Ti is a loser against the 1070.

But.....funny you quoted Fast and the Furious because all of the cars on that movie was modded and boosted.
These are EVGA Classified cards (modded and boosted) are made for ~1500MHz OC and eligible for step up.

The 980Ti will win a OC shootout with the 1070 and you can swap it out when there's good stock for the 1070 in 90 days (side grade). The buyer can't lose.

Deal is now dead though. It may come back again for a third time.

You buy a card that was made with overclocking in mind, and wouldn't overclock it? Edit: Thus I find your argument specious and rather vapid.

If the stock card can provide the fps to accommodate the games being played by the owner, why bother? Personally, I would prefer not to pay more on my electric bill or reduce the life span of my hardware unnecessarily.

Also, there was no argument to be made on my end. I was just stating a fact.
You on the other hand seemed to be having a difficult time comprehending facts and is changing subjects. You should probably just close your eyes and and hush hush for a bit. It'll be over in just a bit ;)

I addressed the statement then dismissed it. Specious and vapid is exactly what your statements were and continue to be.

Shall I again? Very well then.

It is a card for overclocking, this EVGA 980 Ti Classified. It was designed from the ground up to be so, and so someone acquiring it would be expected to do so. Thusly, I had kindly provided OC to OC results for the edification of those parties interested. You quite obviously are not, which is certainly allowed, and so your statements remain not quite germane to the information provided for those which would use it to their monetary and intellectual gain.

Shall we bandy further? I do so very enjoy it, and will gladly continue to obliterate your "statements of fact" - such as the one pertaining to electric usage which is quite titillating and telling of your knowledge and understanding. Electricity bill calculator | Energy cost calculator shows the separation of 70W between cards to cost a pittance per year. For me, a miserly fifteen dollars for a three hundred and sixty five day period. What would it cost you?

As to your quaking fear of ruinous engagement of further speed by means of overclocking; You must use your digital computational devices for an egregiously long period. So long, in fact, that you must still own and operate an 8080 based system! It has been shown time and again that with appropriate testing for stability and temperature and the delicate application of increased voltage that this so-called ruinous application of speed becomes a non-issue pertinent to the usual life expectancy and usefulness of computerized equipment.

Shall we again? Or will you away?

    So.. you....

    1) brought data to support a non-issue.
    2) then agreed to my original statement
    3) changed the subject to argue nothing
    4) announced to everybody you have $15 to spare

your obliterating process is going quite well, good sir.

A non issue to you, perhaps - yet that was already addressed and determined to be irrelevant with regards to a GPU that is for overclockers.

I find that I agree very little with your lack of pertinent information.

The subject was addressed, readdressed, and addressed again like it was 1999. You fail to understand, such that it is eloquently clear that your comprehension will not dawn. Not for lack of attempts, which I can certainly continue to provide.

And so someone making a purchase of a $400 luxury item wouldn't have that $15? Did you even look up specious and vapid to see what they mean?

Your points are all null, just as your statements and just as your "facts."

    Shall we again?

Gotta agree with arestavo and world exclusive, we were always talking about with the card(s) OC'd. This thread is about the 980 ti Classified, a card made and marketed for, wait for it......overclocking.

And lol at your "reasoning" that overclocking is not uniform, therefore not a valid argument? I would be willing to guarantee every single classified will hit at LEAST 1450, no questions asked. The factory setting is ~1300, and most will be more like 1500+. Your intention might not be to OC, but that is what's being discussed in this thread, and has been from the very beginning.

So once again, as two other people already told you, you really don't know what you're talking about.

Could it occur to you that it may be a "decent deal" to some, simply for the fact it's on sale and is cheaper than any other new GTX980TI currently?
Someone that has no intention of OC'ing, and purchases an i7 6700k over a i7 6700 simply because the k-version went on sale at a temporary cheaper price than the non-k, and thus overclocking is now a must? Lol okay there.
Your assumption is that anyone that would buy this card is in it for the OC, and not simply because it is (or was) the cheapest deal they can find at the time.

Yes, I'm well aware of what the words specious and vapid mean. You're just trying to justify unnecessary spendings, I get it buddy. You make it rain dollar bills.

Mhmm... or... maybe it's just (or was) the cheapest new 980Ti they could buy at the time? Does every Titan owner that purchased it for a fraction of it's original retail price go: "OMG I MUST UTILIZE ALL OF ITS VRAM TO JUSTIFY MY PURCHASE"? probably not.. (or maybe they do)

Your coherence is dropping steadily. Would you please rephrase to include why

    A) You are on an enthusiast forum and

    B) Where overclocking is the norm you insist on arguing not overclocking and

    C) You keep changing the subject, as you've erroneously accused me of doing when I've constantly addressed your questions as well as your "statements of facts" and

    D) Won't you answer the questions posed instead of only ever asking different questions and evading the subject and questions at hand.

Want to try again? As I've already stated I'm willing, and I just happen to have a long weekend free. If you need someone to talk with (and I'm being quite serious here) we can always exchange numbers. Sometimes I get lonely too.

    a) Oh, I didn't know this forum was for overclockers only, and not just people interested in hardware and found a "hot deal" in the "hot deals section".
    b) Oc'ing is becoming a norm among enthusiasts =/= must overclock
    c) I'm not. my original post states my opinion that it's not a good deal. you're free to disagree with by opinion, but I'm not wrong. Neither are you. I posted valid benchmarks. You're just arguing something else.

Here's your original statement, for the record.

To which we all replied that that was bumpkiss, and I happened to provide quite valid proof to the contrary - which included direct comparison benchmarks and also the fact that not many $390 1070's are out there, but most are more expensive than that - and I've yet to see one less than $390 for sale.

To which you argued that you meant not overclocking.

To which multiple people have pointed out that this card is for overclocking, posted on a forum dedicated to enthusiasts and those seeking to become enthusiasts.

Questions in a regular fashion being those asked in plain English, yes? Those that you have been ignoring like those that I've posed with a "?" at the end?

You have to be one of those fairly rare individuals who has to not only argue but also seeks to mask their arguments as something else, and at the same time has to have the last word as well?

I never doubted the card was made for overclocking. Again, you're just assuming anyone willing to purchase the card must be in it for the OC and not simply for the price. And FYI, they were supposed to be analogies, not subject changing.

Your questions towards me were literally,

"Whaaaaat?", What is $15 to me? and shall we again?

Other than the $15, I'm pretty sure I addressed the others. And $15 is $15 dollars to me if you must know.

I didn't mask anything. I stated why I didn't think it was a good deal. You're free to disagree. And I'm still wondering why you're still trying to beat a dead horse based on your flawed assumption, that everything here MUST be overclocked, because we're on a supposedly overclocking must, forum.
