Everyone In US Under Virtual Surveillance

What if you think you have nothing to hide then find yourself kidnapped indefinitely by a government agency?

When the government begins indefinitely detaining law abiding citizens, then everyone will know they have something to hide.

But it's fortunately not a slippery slope. Public surveillance doesn't lead to unjust detentions.

Acutally, they don't do the supercomputer thing anymore because it's a waste of money. The NSA got into that cloud thing so they just use Amazon for compute power and pay Google a little extra for the Gold AdSense package.

Yes, actually they do use Amazon for some stuff. ;) Not necessarily the NSA, but a few other government agencies do.

The name and sentence doesn't seem to match, should I tell the FBI?! It's very suspicious!

I bet that we would be astonished as to how much we are survailed each year.

it would be interesting to see a chart by year and the growth of tech coupled with the loss
of our privacy

such a chart would show no priva.kl..kdlfffffwwwwww......

If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear. If you have something to hide then encrypt your email. Either way it's a non-issue.

Yes Comrade! It's for the good of the State!

So imagine this, and this isn't directed at Comrade Thuleman

What would happen if all the physical mail that was sent to you was opened, scanned and then delivered to you.

Do you think there would be the same level of apathy?

You completely missed my point. If you don't want your email read by anyone other than the recipient then you have the option to encrypt it. Failing to do so is user error.

Unencrypted email has always been subject to being read. That's how CompuServe sysadmins got their kicks back in the day and that's how Google is doing data mining today.

The only thing new there is that since 9-11 they can now spy legally on Americans from America.
Before that, they had to do it from Britain
But that 2-billion datacenter does not bode well in these times of expected budget cuts. Although it would probably save some money since one of its missions is to replace several smaller datacenters that have become too costly to run.
But yeah, all emails, phone calls, faxes, IMs, tweets, social network posts, they now store everything we write, say or cam.

it's already an offence to stand by the side of the street and do nothing. Since at least 40 years ago.

Probably just key words/phrases, detected via algorithms, then once a certain amount has been reached, the user goes under surveillance by live individuals, and is then picked up by the men in bla~

*HURKKKKKKKK*
