Every game at EA at least 40% off

Looks like the MSRP only holds up for a month nowadays on pc games. Consoles can't come close to that. Battlefront 2 going for almost half price already XD

I gifted a friend Dragon age inquisition for under 5 bucks.
Not really. Console games been dropping in prices pretty drastically also a month after release. Like Pringle said it is to just drive l00t box sells since that is where all the money is nowadays.

They probably raised the prices of their loot boxes to compensate.
There are no real money loot boxes in the game and haven’t been...ever. Disney put the kabosh on that before it ever hit release. Also —- They did just expand the single player campaign and add several new maps for free adding content for free? My gosh!

Ironic. The concern that tripped up the games launch never was a actual issue. Yet they continue to take all the heat for it - and lack of sales - as if it were.

I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment by not buying this.
Your loss. It’s a great game. And you boycotted it for nothing because they removed all the stuff you boycotted before it was released. If anything you should support it now. You won.

Or rather the game lost.

lol it was just a joke. I'm not boycotting shit, just not interested in Battlefront. I was vaguely interested in Need for Speed Payback but the fact that all car upgrades are via loot boxes kind of killed it for me. Between that and the disappointment that was Mass Effect Andromeda, I'm kind of just not feeling EA's 2017 roster.

I bought some really nice indie games instead!

MP progression is still utterly fucked. All they did was remove the option to buy loot boxes without changing any of the progression that was solely designed around making people want to engage in gambling tactics. EA has stated that they plan to bring loot boxes back, though with the apparently disappointing sales of the game they might not. So now we're left with a single-player that seems like it can be best described as "meh" to bad and a completely fucked MP progression system. Sure sounds like a game worth buying at any price alright.

I boycotted it because of the star cards. Until all star cards are removed, I won't be buying it. I couldn't stand them when I played the beta for both the first and this game. I just want a battlefront game that is like the ones released a decade ago, just with better graphics and physics. Apparently that is too much to ask.

If battlefront is a great game then we need new adjectives to describe games that aren't just shoved out the door to coincide with new movie releases.

Grabbed Dragon Age 2 for $5. Loved DA:O and reviews seemed decent enough for DA2.

Haven’t played it have you?

You do realize it’s just basically 50% 2015 SW battlefront game and 50% battlefield 2 type game play with four classes (assault, heavy, officer, specialist) and then good vehicle and hero play. So it isn’t some half baked new gameplay rushed out for a movie as you pretend—— rather it’s a tried and true flavor of gameplay with millions of fans, in a Star Wars skin which also adds interest.

Furthermore,

Starship Assailt is perhaps the best space fighting sim ever. The 2015 version was pretty darn good. This one is significantly better.

But whatever. Enjoy playing games half as good while you boycott this one on confused principles.

Just about everything I've read confirms that unless you're a big SW fan there's no point in buying it. The MP is average at best (just like 2015 version) the SP is short but decent. The only thing that seems is really good is the graphics. I have no qualms sitting out this kind of game if maybe one day EA will stop using this garbage model. It basically relies on suckers who just pre-order on hype.

They had a beta

I preordered after the beta because I thought it was very good. I’ve not been disappointed. I’ve got about 35 hours in it now and not at all tired of it. Heck I’m still seeing new maps for the first time at this point! I had about 70 hours in the 2015 version. I really enjoyed the 2015 version. If you enjoyed that game this one is better. If you didn’t - then yeah skip.

I am a big Star Wars fan and I'm avoiding it. From what I've seen and read the SP doesn't even reach "decent". EA didn't even have the balls to follow through with the bloody premise of the main plot. A plot that was hyped up so much there was even a book written about the squad. And EA completely squanders what could have been a really interesting concept turning it into a cliche'd mess.

Sorry to hear that. They pretty much are doing the same thing with the BF series. And I don't expect anything to change sadly.

With the rumors of Bad Company 3 coming out this year, or at least a announcement I am really hoping they don't fuck that up. Bad Company 2's campaign was awesome (don't care about MP in games).

I'm hoping for Bad Company 3.

After they ruined Battlefied for me with 3 and 4, I'm not dropping cash on 1 (played Beta, was disappointed with only console controllers for planes). And I found the combat in Battlefront 2015 to be boring.

A competent Bad Company sequel would be the only thing to make me open up Origin again.

Its EA, of course they will. At this point I don't expect EA to ever put out another good game until they change management and get out of their current mindset. I'd bet a potential BC3 will be loaded with microtransaction shit. They might dial back a little due to the Battlefront 2 backlash, but don't expect them to make the single player mode free of that BS. I wouldn't be surprised if they tied MTs into both MP and SP for it, even if they forgo traditional loot boxes (which they may or may not do, depending on whether or not the outcry dies down and the threat of regulation goes away).

I'm expecting Anthem's microtransaction crap to be even worse than what Bungie did to Destiny 2 and the game itself not to even match up to the thing EA is shamelessly chasing.

Dude... EA would have to be straight retarded to do that after Battlefront 2.

Considering how badly EA fucked up pretty much every single game they released in 2017, and the fact that Andrew Wilson in still in charge, I have absolutely zero faith in them to do anything but take the retarded route. EA will never stop pushing those boundaries. Let's not forget, EA was the company that basically started this shitty trend with FIFA Ultimate Team then ME 3's MP.

Count on anthem telling battlefront 2 to hold it's beer. This is ea we are talking about. Most hated for a reason.

EA is crap, all it's new stuff will be crap, their response to the community that warned them ahead of time was crap. It's all crap, everyone know they are crap and will always be crap.

Now, I will say this. The last very positive experience I had with EA that was awesome, had value and I had a lot of fun with was with BF3 with the expansion pass when it was affordable. Huge maps. Lots of action, long games ...

They got away from that model and now it's small maps so they can force people to run around and kill each other. A hell of a lot less strategy and planning. In Battlefield 3 ... it might take you 5 or 10 minutes to get up the side of the mountain and start sniping. I fcking loved that. Not anymore. They drop you into a small area and some 15 year old kid runs around killing everyone. Tell me, where is the fun in that?

All crap

They royally fucked up Star Wars. STAR WARS. One of the most hyped IP's ever made.

I wouldn't put it past them to take a microtransaction dump on everyone's grandmother, at this point.

I'd hope not. Well, at least not on PC. I don't mind if they make a watered down BC game for consoles and give the PC users a proper BF4 sequel.

I'd mind. Make proper games for all audiences, and give leeway for more powerful customization on PC's. Sadly, that's not ever going to happen.

Back on topic, I recently created a new account and went with thier "All Access" package which I thought was a pretty good deal . $29.99 a year gives you access to almost every game they offer including the latest AAA games including any beta games in development. No limit to how many you have active at any time. Just downloded all of the Mass effect, Dead Space, bunch of other games, Don't care about online play but they offer up Batlefront, etc in the Access library

I was referring to gameplay, not graphics. BF4/1 looks pretty good as is. I'd like to see improvements but I'd rather it keep the great performance to looks ratios if possible. BF4 is smooth, BF1 has a stuttering problem that they can't seem to fix.

I hear you. I was just trying to say (without saying it directly for some reason) that all audiences should get the same general experience (gameplay first and foremost though, like you said), reserving the best visual fidelity for the systems that can handle it.

I actually wouldn't mind if they went back to making PC versions cater more to PC gamers. What happens now days is we get the most mainstream version possible, which often ends up being what console players prefer. A good example would be Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1/2 on PC vs the console versions. The cover was the same, but the games catered a lot more to the platforms respective player base. PC was first person, maps were larger to allow for some maneuvering, squad commands were a tad bit more detailed for the 2nd game, the game seemed to be more realistic and less forgiving in general. The console version was a 3rd person cover shooter which was all the rage on consoles back then.

When it comes to BF, if they insist on making floaty randomized recoil patterns to cater to imprecise controller thumb sticks and the like they can leave it to consoles. I like being able to tap and hit an enemy at far distances, to pop that guys head with my regular rifles from a distance thanks to careful aiming. Same with vehicles. I don't want BC2 size maps with three tanks per team.

Seems the trend lately is, let's go from big maps to smaller, and cater to the "TDM" crowd. It's frustrating. I totally understand what you mean by the obscure recoil (and hit) patterns, I see it a lot in CoD WWII. I do remember GR:AW and watching videos (though I did not have a rig at the time that could properly handle it).

All you EA defenders, take a look at their history. They deserve nothing.

As I recall, the only reason it wasn't an issue was because of the complaints from people (you know, the ones that DIDN'T buy it). That said, at this point, it seems like it might be worth buying, though I've read that progress in the game is still too slow.

Couldn’t have been the ones that didn’t buy it because they took the microtransactions out BEFORE it went live. The noise and commotion those people caused before release took it out. Fine. But if they don’t actually buy the game then what’s EAs incentive to keep microtranactiona out? It certainly won’t be stellar sales. Will they even make another battlefront game?
