EvE online?

No bank account? Are you one of those self-sufficient off the grid libertarian types?
No wait, you still have Internet ..., so what gives?

hell no its a little thing called 2 grand in debt and a locked credit.

Bummer, though I am pretty sure that they have to allow you to keep a checking account. Not sure how people can even survive these days by using cash only, seems cumbersome.

lol banks don't have to allow anything and no i can't even get a savings account let alone a checking account. i only have 2 years left til the bank gives up trying to get money out of me.

I played EVE for a while a couple years back. However, I bought ISK illegally online and my account was stripped of all funds and is in the negative many million ISK.

I always wanted to go back and play it, but there is no way to get out of debt.

I suppose that's what I get for "cheating."

I don't recall. I haven't logged into the account for a long time, and I can't check it without resubscribing. I thought about buying game cards and selling for isk to get out of debt, but I don't know how much it is. I'm not not resubscribing to see I'm billions in debt or something. I don't think I ever bought that much, but it's not worth $15 to find out.

Good old google. I have my e-mails archived from 2007. I have one for 100mil isk and I think I did that twice back then.

So I imagine I'm ~250 million or so isk in debt.

Maybe I will buy a card to sell.

Plex sell for 500mil. Not bad profit lol.

yeah plex prices are bullcrap and i know for a fact its CCP buying the plex cards to drive up the price. my cousin bought 3 plex and resold them and it was a CCP account that bought them. when plex first started they were at 300 million isk, now they are up to 500+ million isk.

I still recall making a 500 mil PLEX prediction on the Market Discussions forum and was laughed out of town about a year ago. I suppose I am laughing now as I am sitting on tons of them bought at 240-280.

However, at ~250 it made no sense to spend $20 for a PLEX in order to convert it to ISK. Now at 500 it's a much better deal for players who want to sell PLEX to prop up their wallet. Obviously PLEX buyers are getting the shaft.

On the flipside now is a great time to sell some PLEX you have to your RL friends for less than $20 if you just want to cash out.

EDIT: Actually, I'd be interested in a screenshot showing a CCP character buying PLEX.

yeah i figured the prices would go up as well, 250 million was just to easy. at that price i'd never pay a dime to CCP. but once it sky rocketed above 400 million i pretty much gave up. not even worth the effort to buy them in game which actually pushed me away from even wanting to resub my accounts now.

sorry don't have any screen shots of it. but i know from talking to other people in game its not the first time. plus its just to damn obvious. at 500 million a piece for plex in game people will gladly pay the 20 bucks for them to resell in game which means CCP profits like crazy.

Guys, you HAVE to check out my new game "tax simulator4". You compete with other players for "play packets" and once you enter all the data from your packet in the appropriate fields and submit it you get game credit good for avatar enhancements and more. It is the new gaming phenomenon sweeping the web! For a free invite just email [email protected] for a free invite.

look we get it, playing EVE requires you to use to many brain cells, go away already.

lol, sorry, I will shut up

but I'm still watching, I said before, I think EVE is the heaviest game yet, I am fascinated and repelled.

Upon reflection that post was trolllike, sorry.

Question for all you out there addicted to this game as I am. How of many spend some of your spare isk gambling via lotteries on the forums or via Somer Blink.
Personal I try not to blow over 50-100mil a month on blink but sometime it gets away from me.

never done it and probably never will.

I have to say it is very fun and addicting some nights. Eveonline holdem is fun as well, some poker will mining is always fun. I would suggest throwing 15mil in to blink on night and trying it, I got addicted to it fast by a corp mate.

If any of you are looking for an active 0.0 corporation or just need help in general, let me know. Been living out in 0.0 for more than 5 years now, so I know a thing or two. All I ever do at this point is PVP. Can send me a message in-game (character name is TheBlueFox). Game is only a job if you want it to be by the way. I have well over 5b in passive income each month and don't grind for it...not that hard if you invest a few hours into figuring out what makes a lot of money (ie studying the market).

bolded text is exactly why i won't do it. its bad enough i live right down the street from a casino, i don't need reasons to gamble online even though its fake money.

The only people who make money from the lotteries, poker, and blink are the people who run it. So yeah, if you like throwing ISK away then by all means, go for it.

Blink is the only outfit in game that I am a little bit envious about. They rake in staggering amounts of ISK. Then I remember that there's no use for all that ISK and the envy subsides.

I've done the eve poker thing, its okay if you're just mining or ship spinning in eve for some reason. Because of some of the small tournament, a lot of people collude and farm for isk there.

Could someone recommend some good guides? Some general ones, some industry ones, some PvP ones, etc.

I want to do some reading before getting back into.

My guy only had about 6 million skill points so I can go in whatever direction I suppose.

I posted this earlier in the thread:

But in the meantime I recommend reading the following links to get all caught up to speed on Eve:
http://www.isktheguide.com/
A free PDF that shows you virtually all the ways to make money in Eve.

http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Main_Page:
Don't join Eve University as they're constantly wardecced but their wiki is chock-full of info about ships, fits, ways to make ISK, tactics, etc.

Love the game, 2 accounts quit earlier this yeatr. It costs more than the average MMO but having game time for in-game currency is a nice touch (although ive never actually managed to get a PLEX, keep losing too many Tengu!). Only problem with it is theres next to no enforcement on CCPs part, and sadly just lost a large POS and T2 equipped Hulk to a a jump freighter pilot who decided to leave with all of my and my corps assets instead of doing his routine run from jita to nullsec. Obviously part of the perils of Eve Online, and i dont mind losing 2 or 3 Tengus a week to roaming pvp gangs in nullsec, but losing all my stuff to someone i cant fight back against put me off for a bit.

Also you can find it very frustrating that the game is such a noob killer, theres no such thing as an even or fair fight, having no cap or endpoint means the strong get stronger and you can do nothing but look in disgust as your battleship or Tech 3 cruiser get popped by a single frigate.

On the plus side however, it is such an open game, so much to do and so much to experience, your not limited in any way you can adjust your character to deal with any situation, by either learning some new skills or jumping into a different ship. Ontop of that, theres combat styles to suit all preferances, long range sniping with cruise missles, nimble close quaters frigates, repair and buff your ally with a logistics or command ship, hit and run stealth attacks with stealth bombers or even cripple your enemies weapons and engines with an e-war.

In short, a very good game that could entertain you for the rest of its life, and DEFINATELY worth a trial

If anyone wants to try the game, i have a 60 day trial code. I'll post it here so first come first serve.

2E8FN3UX8DV3LGQP6UB27XJU8AUUWZFK013

Redeeming Winter 2011 60 day Trial codes

1) These codes are single use.

2) These codes are transferable.

3) They can be copied and sent via most any means, but these are single use codes good for creating one 60 day EVE trial account.

4) These codes may not be used to extend any existing trial or add game time to any EVE account.

5) To redeem these codes simply go to secure.eveonline.com/Activation, enter your code and fill in your trial account details.

6) These codes must be initiated by January 24th, codes will be invalid to start after that point.

if i didn't already have 3 expired accounts i'd definitely take the code. but i think i'll wait. CCP is so desperate for people i suspect there will be a discount happening soon for people that re-activate their accounts.

Why did you quit?

Why did you quit?

i didn't quit, i just can't pay for my accounts otherwise i'd still be playing. but now that they are throwing around all these trial account bonus crap i'm betting the next move will be to discount sub prices. so i'll wait before renewing my accounts.

Saw someone going around in chat saying Hulkageddon 5 will start early 2012

doubt it will happen, but if it does i hope i'm there to watch. get rid of these asshats strip minning the crap out of the system i mine in.

they run through the system with 3 orca's and 8 hulks

Two more codes that can be used.

The only way I would come back is if they completely removed PI and several other stupid things from the game they have done lately and I really don't see that happening. They are dropping core players like hot potatoes. They still have a lot of the 2006+ but it's mostly 2007+ people there and that's very sad. Less and less people around that remember it the way it was before they fucked it up.

That being said, if you want to play you can easily snag a 60 day trial and as a returning player or guided newbie never pay for your account with real money. If you already have an account, they will turn it on for a day or two for free and you can earn a plex in a day easily just running missions.

Whats so bad about PI? Now you can blow up the custom offices in low/null sec. Hi sec have crazy high taxes.

Whats so bad about PI?
Carpal Tunnel click fest for one, removal of supply/price stability is another point.

EVE Online is fundamentally flawed in that it gives a massive advantage to veteran players. CCP then tried to correct this by removing the old sov system, by invention, by PI, by nerfs and boosts, but at the end of the day every change CCP makes has unintended consequences that collectively make the game worse.

That's because CCP can't predict how players will (ab)use the changes that have been implemented.

For me the biggest reason why I essentially quit the game (maintaining a single account now) is that there is no more empire building. Any group of trained monkeys can now come and take space. Sov changes in Dominion were intended to allow smaller entities to go to 0.0, that notion was laughable from the very start. Large entities don't have to hold sov to claim a system, they just say it's theirs and that's the end of it.

CCP thinking that some 20 man corp can now move to 0.0 and stand a chance was ridiculous. Try an anchor a tower if you don't belong to a power bloc and see what happens. So Dominion failed.

I can already hear you say: But ... but ...., no one was able to take space from established entities before Dominion!!!
Except that plenty of space changed hands before Dominion. All of the North except Morsus Mihi space folded, Dusk & Dawn anyone?

Ultimately space isn't held by structures, it's held by people, and people will hold it if they are motivated to hold it. At this point there's literally no motivation to hold space which is why you see those huge NIPs out there. The Drone Clusterfuck Federation was just an example of what could be, but reality isn't too far removed from it.

In either case, if all you care about is to log on and shoot some stuff then there's a chance you can still have fun in EVE if you don't think about it too much. As soon as you think about the territorial mechanics and the territorial reality, about moongoo, and about the larger picture it becomes obvious that all of it is entirely pointless.

The only good thing about EVE right now is the high price of PLEX which makes cashing out ISK easy.

I agree with you on the carpal tunnel. As for the sov changes, I was never involved in managing POS or anything so I dont know what changed. Did some POS bashes and thats about it for me. Seems like a chore no matter what.

I think for PI they should allow you to mass click on what you want to change. If you want to change 18 factories you should be able to click all 18 and change it. Hopefully they change PI up and more then the player owned custom offices Hopefully prices skyrocket so Hi-sec even with the taxes will be profitable or Im just going to stop my PI stuff.

PI tried to give everyone something for nothing while at the same time keeping small corps from having tower networks. At the time of the PI debut the market was already in the shitter and I had already brought my own network down to about 15 large/medium towers and my corp was running about 30. We were a small corp grant it, there was 5 of us, each with multible accounts and our own networks, and 0.0 support.

It completely destroyed the ability to even remotely get enough fuel on your own and drove the prices up to the point where you couldnt run a tower network unless you had massive corps at your disposal. That in turn drove reactions even more, which drove everything else up, and fucked everything else.

That is of course a gross over simplification and there is alot more that went into it but when you add that to the years of fuck up after fuck up to my beloved game I ended up saying fuck it. Out of the 17 of us that were playing from 2004ish, only 2 still are, and not very much either.

I did have fun quitting though. Gave over 100bil out to misc people. Best and worst scammers in jita. Tons of other shit. Over 300 bil to friends. I found more shit stuck in cans in back water parts of space that I had forgotten about than you can ever believe. It really was a blast. I think quitting was the most fun I had had in almost 2 years.

I made a decently amusing profit on the price hike. My corp (8 players, 50m SP+) unsubbed a while back and pulled down our small tower network. We were mining mid-range stuff in lowsec and a couple R64's we managed to steal. Came back this week and sold everything off, made out with around 12 billion liquid. Which is a lot for us. :p

Now we're in the process of looking for a nullsec alliance. We've done pretty much everything in game, and we miss the PvP and lifestyle of a deep nullsec home.

I remember when 30 day game time cards went for like 150mil, and 90 day were something like 400mil. Even the price of those were going up before PLEX were introduced from what I can remember.
