ESX preventing proper routing of OpenVPN?

Is there any scenario that ESX could prevent OpenVPN from properly routing the client to the network, notably use of Endian as the server? I am having some major issues of the client and server only being able to ping each other, but the client not being able to ping the rest of the network. My routes look good, and a traceroute on the client shows it going to the server but then it fails to respond and I get "ICMP Checksum is wrong." Any ideas?
