Good news! There will be a job vacancy soon at the EPA. Salary is $120,000 a year, work hours are flexible and you can be a total jack-off and no one cares.

An employee at the Environmental Protection Agency downloaded more than 7,000 pornographic files onto a government computer and viewed them for two to six hours a day, according to the agency’s independent watchdog. The worker, who wasn’t identified, was watching pornography when a special agent showed up at his work space. The employee caught viewing pornography is still on the payroll, earning about $120,000 a year.

Damn he has me beat , I only get two hours a day in at making 70.000 a year :D lol

The only difference between this guy and your average public sector jerk off is that this guy was literally jerking off.

2 to 6 hours a day? Wow. During work hours?! On a work computer?! How does that happen?

Where do I sign up?!

Ha ha ha! My sister's ex boyfriend was using the damn phone at the EPA to stalk her. She had the police arrest him at work. He's still working there to this day .

I just don't understand why anyone would ever use their employer provided devices to do anything personal. I don't even check my personal email on my work machines.

6 hours? Good enough for government work I guess, but I see plenty of people in the private sector waste more time than that.

Never heard of raising morale in order to raise productivity?

Sure, that's why I have my personal tablet and smartphone and use my LTE connection.

Ah... that's something I can't do in a secured environment. No personal eletronic devices allowed here. Being stuck with crappy proxy appliances that can't handle the workload most of the time. Plus the filters suck, too. I take what I can get morale wise w/o triggering anything abhorrent to those enforcing them. :(

I think its just really hard to fire a government employee to be honest. The hiring process isn't exactly setup to hire the best person.

He'll probably end up with a promotion and a big pay raise.

Downloading porn? Viewing it more than once feels too much like a relationship. :D

6 hours a day???? I like some pron as much as the next guy, but bejeeesus. He must be at a teenager level in regards to hormones, b/c that's just too much.

Getting paid 120k a year to do so however is like a sore dick. (You can't beat it.)

this guy must take extra breaks.. I watch porn at work but it's done through squid proxy and I have a nice little shortcut that deletes my cache. Unless there is a key logger in the computer (which there is not) then I'm pretty safe. Being careful is the key.

EPA guy polluting his work environment? That's unpossible!

Panspermia, let nature roam free and all that. Let nature fight back against the man. Maybe he's doing a praiseworthy thing in their circles.

What's the point in working for the government if you can't spend all day looking at porn?

If he worked at a private company, he wouldn't have been caught.

See the difference?

No. Why do you think he wouldn't have been caught?

And I can't imagine that any company in the private sector would have any problem firing him on the spot.

I love this:

“We have taken steps to put measures in place to help ensure this type of fraud cannot be repeated,” he said.

We have begun a process to eventually do something.

this guy had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much time on his hands. or was it something else on his hands?????

That sounds like the UN too. Recall a small snippet from Team America where Hans Blix shows up to inspect Kim Jong Il's wepaons:

Hans Blix: Then let me look around, so I can ease the UN's collective mind. I'm sorry, but the UN must be firm with you. Let me in, or else.
Kim Jong Il: Or else what?
Hans Blix: Or else we will be very angry with you... and we will write you a letter, telling you how angry we are.

No, if he was at a private company he would have been fired a long time ago for lack of productivity.

I'm the IT person at a small company, and due to the type of work we do, our internet access is pretty much wide open. However, unless he downloaded this over a very long period of time, I would have noticed the high amount of traffic going to his system, and then would have looked at the sites he was accessing to see if it was work related.

The other way he would have been caught at my company is that his manager would have come to me asking what he was doing on his computer (due to the lack of productivity). I would check the internet activity logs, and see what sites he was going to, and what type of traffic, and send the manage a report.
