I can completely understand this device for those that already have a degree of neural impairment, but the reality of having ads beamed directly into my brain is not appealing. That doesn't even touch on the realities of hacking, the shady practices of legitimate companies, or anything else. Nope, I'm not jumping on this one.

Ok, I hate hating on Elon Musk but he sounds like a super snake oil salesman with this, probably just throwing out bullshit promises so he can drum up investors into another of his companies. Don't get me wrong, I love the Tesla, and I like his push towards solar and the ability to store energy removing the "solar promise" (and if you live in a snowy tundra 4+ months out of the year or have to commute 200+ miles a day I couldn't give less of a fuck about your views on these products). But they're at the stage right now where they can detect the brain lighting up when a pig sniffs something, and then he's talking about "oh yeah we totally will be able to record memories and play them back"... I mean seriously pump the regenerative brakes already, lets focus on the good you're claiming this can do like helping people who have seizures or something, don't be promising to be able to download a language and have perfect understanding on the fly.

Well if you truly had a debilitating neurological condition that this could help... you probably wouldn't consider it unnecessary. But if you're seeing this as a way to listen to music without needing earbuds, then yeah I totally am with you.
