Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

look at your posts, youre having a spaz for no reason
remake is like ff7 remake, completely from the ground up new, just based on the old game.
this, is using parts of the old game with a bunch of new shit added, a remaster. yes its pushing toward a remake, but is not.
clear?

LOL.

It’s pretty damned clear… just not to you.

Surely, I'm not the only one that would rather be a staunch advocate for Skyblivion all day; over giving another shilling to Bethesda's BS..

The fact that you’re interested in Skyblivion tells me that you actually were a fan of the original game.

The original game was obviously made by Bethesda, so your post is disconnected.

Also, Bethesda had nothing to do with this remake. And the developers who did work on the remake have completely blown away the modders - it’s not a close race.

This is what I was referring to. But not antagonistically. I was saying that the Oblivion remake was clearly not done like this.

Unless the screenshots are fake, of course. LOL.
You think that mean to make the game they had to press a button, because the game designer made something available to player at the press of a button ?

Do you think screenshots tell us if Unreal 5 run the game states or just the graphic ? How could you discern that ?

Nothing has been announced, obviously, but if the screenshots we’ve seen are real, then Oblivion was re-made for 2025.

so is sbi... BUT as per usually you cant win an argument, because youre wrong, and are now getting nasty and insulting. only one that doesnt know what going on is you, give it a rest.

Thanks. Nice ninja edit on your part though...

We can just call it Oblivion 2025 and drop this dumb argument altogether...

I'm looking forward to it - I have the original and played a bit into it but never got the 'hook' as I did with Skyrim. I can't even remember what bothered me about the game - the enemy scaling, maybe.
For me it was the Oblivion gates. They are a slog to get through. You're not required to close all of them, but still, the ones you're required to go through are so exhausting to get through. When I played it for the first time I couldn't force myself past the first gate in Kvatch, so I was hung up on that for a long time.

Same, I don't think I had a proper playthrough until 2007 or so (waited a bit for some mods to mature)

Next thing you know, I'm in the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild.... To this day those are some of my best memories side-quest-wise

- Here's my thing but I understand the reason, I really wish they had done a proper remake of Morrowind.

Especially with Wabbajack being a thing now, having a nice modded install of orig Oblivion isn't a 10th the pain in the ass it was 5 years ago

If anything, I hope they change the (somewhat infamous) level scaling system

I think I remember you could actually make the first Oblivion gate crazy difficult if you actually did it after leveling up a bunch because you'd get swamped by incredibly strong monsters instead of pussy little ankle biting bitches like intended

Also fuck every bandit running around in glass and daedric armor

Maybe that's what I did wrong... LOL. I had bandits sporting glass and such before I entered a gate.

Yup this was my fate as well when I played it way back when. For its time and at least for me, the game was graphically immersive and I spent many upon many hours playing with mods and doing all the side quests, exploring cities, finishing all the guilds, etc while I was swapping and messing with the mods. Got to a point all I had was mostly the main mission and the gates destroyed me and I never did do the main mission.

I found the oblivion gates to be incredibly easy to cheese. With enough athletics you could just jump over the geometry with the floaty game physics, then rush past the enemies, and if you save right before you grab the sigil stone, you can reload infinitely until you get the sigil stone you want.

It gets to the point that you WANT to find an oblivion gate because it means you can get a sigil stone that will give you your choice for a substantial buff you can apt to any armour or weapon.

Ok this is hilarious

In one of my playthroughs I only leveled up conjuring and the one that lets you turn invisible and one of the boss like fights was absolutely brutal for me because he could detect me while invisible and I could barely do any damage to him, and on top of that he would heal himself.

It probably took me an hour to kill him. The entire time I was running and jumping for my life.

That's what makes Elder Scrolls games fun though. The freedom to play how you want.

Like remastering a CD or movie on dvd / blu-ray.. It’s gonna be the same 20yo game with a fresh coat of paint… maybe some quality of life improvements.. And I’m still gonna play it.

I just reinstalled vanilla Oblivion to have a look at it, which I’m doing right now.

I’m completely speechless. I just don’t remember the game looking this rudimentary.

I know your memory plays tricks on you but my god. The water, in particular, is just shocking. The entire game has this blocky look to it.

And there are no birds in the sky? Just… wtf? I don’t remember this at all?

EDIT: Okay, I’m playing this thing now and it’s shockingly archaic. The gameplay is just laughably bad.

I’m sorry, but if this game hasn’t been completely remade for 2025 like The Dead Space 2023 remake… if it’s merely ‘getting a new coat of paint’… then this thing is going to fail miserably. No way will a modern audience accept this.

Just… oh my god.

Gotta pick on my post, huh?

I installed and played it about six months ago and added visual mods .. it wasn’t that bad .. but idk. I guess we will see.. or we won’t. We still have no idea it this will drop like we’re talking about.

I remember one of the early leaks claimed that certain aspects of the game are being reworked (ie: stealth, hit collision, etc). I'm hoping enemy scaling is one of the elements reworked too.

I loved this game when it released.

I remember thinking, this game is what I thought Fable was going to be like.

But playing it now… my blood runs cold, my memory has just been sold.

If it works for you then that’s all that matters. The only real opinion that actually does matter about any game is yours.

I just think that a modern audience… or a younger group… will not accept Vanilla Oblivion gameplay. I could be wrong but I’d be shocked honestly.

Also… yes, you’re right… nothing has been confirmed.
